I can only guess. Folks on here need to realize that this is not just about Gruden and UT. Here are some other issues I can only guess exist:

ESPN. Has to find a replacement for Gruden, probably get approval from the NFL, then negotiate and sign a contract with the replacement.

NFL. See above.

Gruden's Sponsors. There might be clauses in their contract with Gruden that it is contingent on him being with MNF. He might need to renegotiate those contracts.

Dooley. UT needs to try to negotiate his buyout at a lower amount.

Dooley's Assistants. Same as Dooley.

I can see all those having play. But espn finding a replacement should have no bearing on UT or Gruden.

Another day in the life of a bazillionaire!

Oh ok. Well thank her from me for her service.

I'm not in service my self but close to fort Chaffee. It's where Elvis got his hair cut and ghost hunters did a show.

Base is all but closed except for training and black op stuff. DOE runs out of here and the seals train on the river.

I will pass that along to her.

Ron Jaworski would take over for Gruden. ESPN doesn't need the NFL's permission to hire commentators. :loco: Step away from the glue and no one gets hurt.

They could require it if his contract is written in the right way.

Or, maybe he has told them he is leaving and they requested that he wait a few weeks while they line one up. He might do it as a courtesy.

I wish I had rich people problems.

Apparently, in this case we do! Think we can get back pay for all this strategic positioning that we are discussing?

Hart: Im not sure how to handle this part...

Haslam: Simple turn to page 682 in JG IV...those guys worked it out...

I know at least one guy on Ft. Chaffee that is a huge Vols fan. :)

Have you seen the ESPN/NFL contract? I haven't either. But, based on the way Goodell is a control freak about everything else, it would not surprise me at all if the NFL holds rights of approval on this.

Lol , that's not saying much. I hope this isn't going to last much longer. I don't like either place to be honest. I hope to be back in Tenn in the next year . She's been here her since she's been in and all they do is deploy here.

Savannah is a great town. Grew up there.

With that said, moved to TN in 91, and I'm still here. lol

Also, how do you folks think ESPN would rather announce this:

1. Gruden announces he is gone at the end of the season and they simply wish him well; or

2. Gruden announces he is leaving, they wish him well and announce at the same time that ______ is taking the job. I am not so sure it will be Jaws. They might want somebody with a higher profile.

I think ESPN will be butthurt, and in being that way they will let the UTAD announcement serve as theirs, while they go quietly into the night sucking their thumbs....

Sarcasm there.

I know there are some real inside sources here. I have a couple myself that is a booster and former QB. I have been in touch with them the whole time. QB told me last night the Gruden thing is a moving target, everytime one thing gets taken care of 2 more things pop up. I am really hopeful and excited like all for it to get done........but it aint done yet by a longshot. I agree 100% Dools is history, course everyone knows that.

My .02

As far as his endorsements go, what, if any, does IMG play in this? Wonder if this is one of the things being worked on?

Brent Schaffer IMO

I'd be surprised if ESPN went back with Jaws. The pretty publicly demoted him this last year. I could see them go the coach route again, maybe Herm Edwards. Though if they do go with Jaws, he'll be the short term host until they throw a bunch of money at Peyton whenever in the next few years he retires.
