Recruits talk about possibility of Gruden

I know some of you girls are happy about this but when it doesn't happen what affect on recruiting do you think this is going to have on recruits.......

If Dooley is retained I would expect recruiting to drop like a stone tossed in a lake. Kids are just not going to buy into his BS any longer. The "come to UT and help us gat back to the top" talk is proving to be alot of BS without any substance behind it. I doubt if Gruden is the guy hired when Dools is canned. I would expect the next head coach to recruit BETTER than Dooley. Recruits will be excited by the thought of winning some games at Tennessee. Much like the fans would be.

Spare us.
Saban was a flop in the NFL, but his name holds powerful respect with recruits. He has a leg up on any other coach before he ever picks up the phone. When that letter arrives from Alabama it might as well say, "University of Saban," because that is exactly why these kids are lining up to play there.

Gruden has more pop star credentials than Saban could ever dream of. Plus the guy is a great football mind on top of that.
-Gruden would win because he will have cred before he ever mails the first letter. Kids will get all giddy when they see that UT on the return address, knowing that Gruden's signature is on the letter. When they hear that voice on the phone, it's the same one that does color on MNF, and sits at the table and breaks down film with Luck and Cam. If you can't see the appeal of that, then stick with Dooley, because you are completely delusional if you think that gomer has any such position.
Gruden will win because other coaches will crawl over one another to be on his staff. They know his infectious personality and love of the game.
Gruden will win because he loves football. He loves making players better.

Gruden would succeed because he did it working for one of the most interferring owners in the world, and still built a team into a super bowl contender.

And the best part is he isn't a snivling little pr*** like Saban. This is a guy who seems to have a genuine love for the game and the young men who play it. Not some narcissistic, condescending butt hole of man who treats people like garbage.

Gruden will endure himself to the fans because he would never see himself as bigger than the UT program. He would succeed for all the above reasons and then some. Only a blind person would deny it.

Post of the century! :good!:

answer one question? i keep asking it but no one ever answers. WHY DIDN'T DUNGY WIN THE SUPER BOWL IN TAMPA?

do you honestly think indy won because of dungy? you don't think he loaded his wagon on to mr manning and mr manning won it. you don't watch the games do you?
GBO VFL

I've been saying this for as long as I've seen this argument. Dungy is not the amazing coach everyone thinks because he only won one superbowl with the best quarterback to ever play the game on his sidelines.

...and failed to get very far with a team Gruden took to the Super Bowl, to boot.

To half of the people on here who think straight 3-4 to the other vol fans 1-2 but IMO I think that he would have a winning season or 2 before anybody even had the chance to bash him! If we get him then I really think he would win and could be here as long as he wants to be! But getting him is the question ?????? Because he will be able to recruit whoever he wants and we will deft get whatever qb he wants so he would have no reson not to win GOVOLS

Wow, VN has annoited Gruden the football messiah. He will walk across the river to get to the stadium, he will last supper [b4 game] at Calhoun's and make 1 BBQ dinner feed dozens, he will raise his 'staff' to heights and part the turf at Neyland. Bring him on no more rain games.:peace2:

Gruden will have to completely learn on the job. I don't understand why people don't understand that isn't a good thing. Other coaches or not. Why anyone trust that he can succeed here right away just baffles me. Smh

Our programs issues aren't fixed yet, so having a guy come in with very little knowledge of the cfb industry right know is ridicules. He will get some nfl guys maybe so he'll have limited amount of people on staff that have experience running a top sec team. And this is a good thing???

It's funny how all these smart Grudenites keep falling for this PR push by grudens people to gin up interest for him in the nfl.

Also if cdd going 7-5 getting paid 1.8 mil a yr isn't good enough then it's going to ok if Gruden doesn't win right away making 5 mil +???? Ha!!! Just because he won a SB 10 yrs ago too. Ummmmmmmm the college and nfl game has changed since then people.

If he's here next yr I expect 9+ wins and undefeated the following yr. He won't get any time from me.

Even Gruden gets a year "0". :)

How many years does Gruden get, before your bashing him calling for his head???

How many mediocre seasons of "almost" is it going to take before you all take off the rosy red glasses?

0 - 15 against ranked competition.

Is next year really going to be "the year"?

What do you presume will be so different?

I hate nick saTan and his arrogant ego.

Despite that I'd rather go offer saTan $8 Million per year and pay Bama his buyout than to offer Gruden $5 Million per year.

At least nick saTan has proven what he can do with college teams and Gruden has proven NOTHING at all at the college level.

Geeeez people, Gruden was FIRED from his last coaching job for being a FAILURE for several years.

If the big $$$ boosters decide to get rid of CDD then I hope they spend the big $$$ and go get nick saTan and pay him like alaBubba did.

That would offer saTan his opportunity to go down in history forever as the only college coach to win National Championships at 3 different schools and to do it in the SEC which is the toughest conference in America.

saTan could even keep CDD and CSS on his staff if they all agreed to that and save Tennessee lots of buyout money.

Gruden may not be able to "draft" like Saben at first but we could score some much needed 4-5 star recruits, which could eventually lead to the aformentioned or some reasonable facimilie. Dooley simply can't recruit the players we need to really compete, thus the constant rebuilding.....next year....next year....next year
sorry for the rant I'm just disgusted over how far we've fallen

Ok I'm ready to throw up now after reading this. gruden's #1 issue in Tampa was he demonstrate he did not care about his players and cared more about his own self image ala all the former players who was happy when he left. too bad he didn't leave Tampa all together (where I live) because he is a total horses' rear end. One story that shows what an egotistical loser he is is when he literally came out of his house and yelled at neighborhood kids in front of parents for shooting fireworks on 4th of July because he said he has to get up early the next morning. oh sorry Mr Gruden we didn't know that the universe orbited around your ego. People in the damn town he won a Super Bowl don't like this guy. That should tell you something. Your post sounds like Gruden is the Messiah of Football. Also sounds like you have a man crush on him.

I have no idea what kind of a college coach Gruden would be, but his #1 issue in Tampa was the salary cap.

They certainly have sucked out loud since firing him, that's for sure.
