LOL way to go Thrash. The way I understand it was that Hart wanted to decrease the money to the University, so he could have more for the buyout. Cheek balked at that, but it might have been worked out. Others in the know can give you more detailed info than I can, but that is the general gist of it.
I don't know if there is anything to all of that, but how in the world can the recipient of donated money dictate how much he's given?

Cheek- President
Hart- Athletic Director

It is called pecking order.

He's asking how Cheek, even if he's the president, can dictate how donated money can be used if said money was specifically donated for buying out coaches/hiring new ones.

I think they might be talking about football money from ticket sales, concessions, and other related income.

This makes sense. Because personally if I was a billionaire who gave millions to UT and wanted to stipulate what it was used for, I think I'd tell the president to take it or leave it.

Dayshifter here...did we clean up the bar from the fight last night yet?

Its funny you can tell if theres been any real discussion...the thread either has five new pages or thirty something...LOL!

Morning all.

It will not have a set dollar amount and it is not about donor money to buy out coaches. It is a % based on ticket sales etc etc etc that the Athletic department will donate back to the university.

That would be like Haslam giving the university 10 million dollars without specifying how it is to be used. It is not up to Cheek or Hart to spend donated money as they see fit if it is a donation with specific instructions as to how it is to be used.

People thought Columbus was crazy for looking for a new land that was better than before. Call us crazy but freedom is on the horizon.

We Grudinites believe in a Tennessee that defeats the jort wearers from the South. A Rocky Top that sends fear into the heart of Dogs, Gamecocks, and the like. We believe that tide is laundry detergent and rolling is for tires and that anyone who says those phrases together is married to their cousin. SEC titles will be expected and National Titles will fill in an already impressive trophy case. Our crystal ball is lonely and is looking for a friend.

Gruden is the man who will lead us there. Grudinites unite and believe for better days!

Exactly. From what I read on here a while back was that the buyout money was put into an escrow account and paid out monthly. Does any of our guys know for sure about this?
