I do not follow the NFL at all. Just my "perfect world" he would be #2. Almost a tie for #1 but Gruden has a slight edge imo.

I would even go a step farther. If the fan base could get past the connection to LK, Carroll would be ahead of gruden on my list.

I posted this in another thread as well, but its appropriate here as well. Why would anyone want Pete Carroll? He is a proven cheater who would have the eye of the NCAA squarely on him if he came back to college coaching. If he had to cheat at USC of all places, what do you think he would have to do at UT? Secondly, why would he want to come here? He is doing well in Seattle making as much or more than he would at UT, and he's a "west coast guy".

Auburn is a known cheater. A lot of people believe the reason he was fired was because he tried to limit what the boosters were doing on the Plains. Of the recent Auburn coaches I would say Tubs was the cleanest.

I like Patterson and Strong more, but I did want him as the HC the last time around. I think they are having a hard time adjusting to the (talent level in the) PAC 12, but there is no doubt that guy can coach.

I'll take Patterson if we can't get Gruden. Patterson and Peterson are damn good Xs and Os coaches and that is something we need around here. Plus I think that Patterson would open a nice pipeline into Texas for us. Only problem with Patterson though is I think he'll want the Texas job when it comes open.

All the folks who want Petrino....you are only looking at what he did BEFORE his scandal/firing. If over half of the fanbase doesn't want to touch him with a ten foot pole, you can rest assured that MANY, MANY recruits parents will feel the same way. If he had a bad reputation before all of this...he confirmed it with his conduct that subsequently got him fired. Coaches in the SEC will be able to use that against us for years and years. Forget it. We're not that desperate.

I would think Patterson would be the AD's No.2. Strong No.3.
