here's the deal, seriously.
for sake of argument, let's accept the premise that dooley is completely blameless for these three seasons. just for fun.
now, the question is, do you believe derek dooley will lead tennessee to a championship (because that is the goal) in the next five years?
imo, the answer is no. i don't see it in recruiting. i don't see it in his staff. i don't see it on the field.
and so, might as well as get on with the future.
Want us to lose a game if it means the difference between starting over with a homerun hire or returning a coach that has proven to be unqualified for he job? In other words, if you knew winning Saturday meant Dooley returns regardless of what happens the rest of the year, and losing meant he would be dismissed at years end to be replaced with Gruden or whoever you consider a homerun hire, could you want us to lose??
I have to admit, it's debatable for me with no clear answer.

No. Until Coach Dooley actually underperforms I refuse to admit he isn't the man for the job. Losing to top 15 teams close does not count as underperforming. People need to quit acting like he is the reason Tennessee's standards have fallen. 3-4 years ago no way this team beats NC State or is even competitive with any team Tennessee has played to date.
Lots of over-emotionalizing and "I'm a better fan than you" on my thread. Kudos to those of you who are able to think big picture and in pragmatic terms for the good of the program.........and be honest about it.

I don't even waste my Saturdays watching this garbage anymore. Too pretty in autumn to spend my days deteriorating indoors watching us get mauled by the teabaggers or watching our valiant gladiators beat the crap out of some little girls school like Troy State, or Troy, or whatever the f*** they go by these days. ZZZZzzzzz...........

if sacrificing a game means the program will be better off, I'm accepting the L. W's and L's will come and go and sacrificing one game for the betterment of the program in the long term is how I look at it.
Problem is that an L seldom guarantees any specific coach and some on here want UT to lose to watch Dooley fail. I will never want an L to watch a UT coach fail.
Big picture.
