With no press conference scheduled, it doesn't look like Dooley's firing will be announced today.
What is Hart waiting for?
Plenty of sources suggest that Hart will let Dooley go at the end of the season, but I don't see the advantage in keeping it under wraps. Certainly, as a public institution, UT is very limited in its ability to find and hire a new coach until they take the firing and search public.
Waiting until the end of the season seems foolish. There really isn't anything to gain. There isn't a notable opponent left. There certainly aren't any streaks to keep alive. Our recruiting class is hardly stellar and would probably be better to disrupt and reorganize now than in December.
All waiting accomplishes is uncertainty for the staff and players, limited ability to negotiate with replacements, further diviseness amongst fans, more empty seats, and an ever shortening window of time to make a change.
Is Hart just being timid? Obviously, he hasn't had to fire a head football coach on this level before. Is he in over his head here?

The next coach will be a "big" name and the commitment list will grow in quality. I would not be surprised if there were several significant "flips". Some recruits may get recruited over. The $$$'s will spend whatever is needed to get their man.
If they were smart business people, they wouldn't have hired Dooley in the first place. Look at what that is costing UT.
I don't get this whole "another wrong hire sets us back ____ years" argument. Dooley is the original wrong hire. The longer he stays, the further we're set back. Sure, you don't want to make the same mistake again, but there are hundreds of coaches out there more qualified than Dooley. Have some guts and move on.
i don't know how anyone could be happy about retaining Dooley, hes started conference play 0-5 back to back years come on! A program with great tradition and where going to allow this guy to coach us still unbelievable. We have been bottom dwellers in the SEC for 3 straight years. is this going to be the new UT? Are we just going to settle
NE, you under water up there?
Not saying its credible as there are many rumors flying. I was told by someone that's brother is in athletic dept. And he said Gruden has been offered 8 year $51 million. Before you attack like I said I don't know how credible. But he sure was convinced

have you thought...maybe...just maybe.....your coach for 2013 is Dooley........with a potent offense...best line in college football...unfinished business on defensive side of ball.....
Where is the potent offense going to come from? Hunter is leaving. he is project number 1 wide receiver. CP will probably go if his draft status is high enough.
I agree. It is a lot of money and like I said, not sure how credible it is. But this guy also told me Haslem was pretty much footing the bill.
Most Dooley lovers are hiding... The ones that are around are the ones that know he will still be here 70% chance he will because it is reality of the entire situation. Hires and fires. Not good. See how he finishes out the season. It is pick your poison type issue. Turmoil is never good.
