A word of caution to my vol family

I just now remember why i stopped coming on this site. Because of little trolls like you who who want to fight and piss off everyone and talk about Jon Gruden coming to tennessee and so we should fire Phillip Fulmer and the program crashes and we have nothing.

You can look at my post and during this whole discussion of getting a new coach I have yet to say anything about us getting Gruden. I haven't even been posting that much the last few weeks while this Volnation circus has been going on. I'm not wanting to fight and the only one I'm pissing off is you. I am far from a troll. My point is if you want your opinions to be taken seriously invest in a spell check. You also stated (on the subject of your spelling) that I should get over it and answer the Q so i did Sir :hi:

It's my opinion that AD Hart doesn't see a sinking ship BUT he may have 1 coachs name in mind just in case.

IF the big boosters come up with the huge money and IF AD Hart can get that 1 coach then he might pull the trigger and risk setting our program back 3 or 4 years ONLY if he believes that 1 coach can hire the right assistant coaches that are also great recruiters and keep us movong forward in the right direction.

If not then I think AD Hart will give CDD and Css 1 more year to get it all together while he quietly talks around in the background for another year to see who might be willing to come to Tennessee and take over this rebuilding project.

The OP is correct that Tennessee simply is NOT a much desired place to come to for any top coaches in America today because it's so hard to recruit nationally, because we play in the SEC and we play Bama every year and because our fanbase overexpects every year and then when we don't get what we want every year we rip our coaches to bits in front of the entire world and paint the rock like morons with total hate and garbage for pictures for the world and our recruits to see.

We're 1 of the harshest fanbases in the country so I don't blame them when every coach won't even consider coaching our Vols.

It's just the way things are at Tennessee.

VFL...GBO!!!

First off as I have said many times get the right guy and team moves forward with no set back. The Tn is not a job people want is from sports talk beating us down every day, don't listen to them. This was Dooley's best chance to win. Now if we kept him, we would lose next year and he would say it's because we lost player X,Y, and Z to NFL. No more excuses, just time to find the right guy Gruden, Strong, etc.

jon gruden is not coming to tennessee...this is what im talking about. Everyone lives in this world like tennessee is a top job in the country and yeah it use to be...but its not anymore. deal with it and lets try and be constructive and realistic.

Tennessee has history and tradition. Look at what stoops did with Oklahoma in his first year! We are 1 good hire away from being a top program again.

 Thank you. For every 1 realistic/objective fan, there's about 200 idiots that think Vince Lombardi is coming back from the grave to coach an SEC school with no conference wins. I agree with you but don't let the idiots on VN get you down. They're also the ones that thought Jon Gruden was being hired today at noon.

We all are sick of losing. trust me. Saturdays use to be one of my favorite days and it was a family event and we all would get together and grill out and watch the game. But now, Its all I can do to even turn it to ESPN without wanting to snap the remote and I hate that feeling. I want to love saturdays again just as much as the next person but I just have a bad feeling that everyone is going to call for Dooleys head and then who the hell are we going to replace him with? Bobby Petrino? Cuz we all know that the SEC is in a golden erea and LSU, ALabama, forlida, gerogia, south carolina hell miss state for that matter has a coach that every kid in he country has heard of them and if we had our own talent in state i would say that doesint matter but for tennessee to win out in recruiting against EVERYONE then we havce to have a ALL STAR hire. I mean somthing thats going to get some hype back in the program because this program is about as hot as a dead fish right now and has been precieved that was for a long time. So fire Dooley but only if they think they can get better....I dont want another damn coach from missuri southerwest tech state who had 1 or 2 winning seasons...as allways....(sign) go vols.... haha

What a loser attitude.

Im not being a smart ass here but how old is everyone? I grew up in the 80's and 90's and saw when tennessee was in its glory days. EVEN then FLORIDA still had our number. Thats why 98 was such a great win because we always lost to florida. So the grass is always greener. Jon Gruden turned his alma mater down at ND. he turned down ohio state and he grew up in Ohio. I dont think he would come to tennessee were he has to play alabama and florida and lsu and south carolina and gerogia ETC every year and knows if he isint winning national championships (bc of his salary and name) then he will be fired. that would mess his nfl chances etc and he is a nfl guy and thats all there is to it. Thats not a losing attitude its a realistic one.

I like the "we should only fire Dooley if we can get a Gruden type, otherwise we should keep Dooley" people. Ok.

There are NUMEROUS coaches who you could pay to come here who are at least competent coaching hires. Sure everyone wants a home run. But Doolz is dead in the water. Also, nobody who matters likes him. Randy Freaking Edsall would be an improvement over Dooley.

Yes - Sonny Dykes (or Cutcliffe or Strong) would probably be an improvement. If we fired Dooley and hired Dykes would the anticipation be radically amped up over next season more than if Dooley was still coaching? For me the answer is not really - I of course would follow the Vols and be a fan and maybe they would be improved, but all of that is true with Dooley. I just feel win or lose Gruden would bring intensity and swagger that no one else can and would have me fired up.

All of that might be true... except for the “improved" part.
