Official Jon Gruden Thread IV

May I interject something to the meltdown?

Why was it so vitally important for something to happen today? Low, Hubbs and Brice stated on the Nation that Gruden was choice 1,2 and 3. They were basically going to make him say no.

I'm sorry guys...but MNF is on tonight, and Gruden has a job to do. UT can still be bowl eligible meaning $$$$ to Hart. Why get so disheveled when it doesn't happen the hour you think it might? Can't remember the last time anything happened exactly like I expected it to...especially something of this magnitude.

Take a deep breath. Until Gruden says no publicly....he is our primary target.

:good!:

It's going to be ok!!
I just have a warm fuzzy feeling it's gonna work out.

Warm fuzzies don't win football games, neither does Derek Dooley.

Looks like nothing is going to be done until seasons end, which is going to hurt this football team going forward a lot more.

Dooley when Gruden is hired

I'm starting to get a really nasty feeling that Dooley is going to be here next year.:furious3:

The longer this waits out the worse for UT. There is nothing but more questions of which Hart is giving us no answers. In all likelihood, Dooley wins out, wins a bowl game and stays for another year.

We aren't only working with hiring an ESPN analyst with outside advertising contracts, we are also firing a coach. I cannot imagine the minutia of the details involved....or the drastic changes that accompany the willingness to hire the highest paid coach in college football.

At least your avy doesn't seem outdated anymore. :)

is there anyone in this thread that isnt?

I know some people are just sharing what they have heard from whomever, but saying DD had been told, deal is done, Gruden has agreed, sunday presser, monday presser, 48 hr announcement and all the other bs is and has been a big troll job. Biggest ever.

It was always going to be an end of the year analysis and will continue to be. This is big business and big businessmen handling it. It's not run by a bunch of knee jerk reaction people with their fingers on speed dial.

I think we need to clarify that to have true "inside " information, you have to get real facts, not conjecture, from a person directly involved with the process. Just because you might be viewing this board on a device "inside" and building, doesn't make you an "insider" to the information. Got it?

while I agree on the 50-50; you have to admit there is a lot of chatter all around at this point as to him at least being at play. IIRC I don't remember there being this much talk around Gruden in the media in past coaching searches he was supposedly tied to .

I appreciate those that shared their information - regardless of the outcome. We still have time to find the right coach, hopefully Gruden is that coach.

Not saying he is not or was not a possibility, but the 90%+ talk came from specific information that has since proven false. Not VN posts, what I consider real information from identified people in real life.

Like I said either:

1. He said no
2. We were nowhere near as close as many that know the situation thought we were
3. The situation is ongoing with no resolution in sight until seasons end.

I just have a hard time realistically putting the pieces together given it is apparent he will be on the sidelines vs Troy after an 0-5 stretch. Something has either happened or everyone I know was wrong.

In all this, the only thing I felt absolutely certain of was a loss at USCjr meant an announcement. Now that time has passed and I do nto know what to think. I am done guessing, just going to watch it unfold if anything does. Maybe we are the new Vandy-Kentucky-Ole Miss peers.

I think it has more to do with ppl being pissed that DD will more than likely finish out the season coaching, and could save his job with wins over weak teams.
