So best case at this point seems to be:

Gruden has agreed to a dollar amount with Haslam or one of the other top donors with a timeline that is after the regular season.

Seems very unlikely but that's what the pro gruden crowd is hanging their hats on.

UT doesn't want to be embarrassed again with coaches publicly turning down the job, so everything is under wraps until a new coach is locked up. Keep the faith people.

There will be a new coach and he will be a VAST improvement over orange pants mcgee.

Would that depend on who you consider an "insider"?

is there anyone in this thread that isnt?

I know some people are just sharing what they have heard from whomever, but saying DD had been told, deal is done, Gruden has agreed, sunday presser, monday presser, 48 hr announcement and all the other bs is and has been a big troll job. Biggest ever.

It was always going to be an end of the year analysis and will continue to be. This is big business and big businessmen handling it. It's not run by a bunch of knee jerk reaction people with their fingers on speed dial.

For all of the "next four games" talk, does it really excite anyone to get a W over the likes of KY or Vandy? Troy? He can beat teams like this 8 times a year and I don't give a damn honestly. I want to beat the hell out of GA / FL / AL / SC / LSU / etc. Teams that actually matter and show we are back where we belong at or near the top of the SEC.

Yay we beat some scrub teams, who gives a damn. We Are Tennessee. To hell with mediocrity.

when...excuse me...if this does not happen...Vol fans will be beat up and made fun of by the entire country like never before....much worse than for the product that is out on the field on defense.....

And, "Year 0" still stands as his best season, in the results column. The difference between 7-5 this season and 6-6 in 2010 would be the difference between playing NCSU and Oregon. Other than that, we would be beating Missouri at home instead of Ole Miss.

LSU was probably better than MSU as well.

Me. I am so far on the outside I can barely see over the horizon. And on top of that, my binoculars are broken.

Figured we needed to start a new one.

I do ask to please stay on topic in this one. I know we are just waiting for news at this point, but keep the thread on Jon Gruden, or on the coaching search. This is not the Endzone. :)

So I'll start: Does Dooley get fired this week? And if so, when do you expect an announcement if we get Jon Gruden?

Doesn't look like Hart will pull mid-season trigger, or else he would have done so yesterday or today. DD safe til end of year.

If Hart is doing his job, he's already either agreed in principle and/or is haggling on terms w/Gruden, and Gruden is already putting out feelers for his staff.

Feel bad for DD, cause he'll look like roadkill w/the 'amazing' turnaround the next coach will have (with all the talent DD built over the last couple years).

Lastly, if Gruden is the guy, I think it's possible - although unlikely - that he could convince Bray, CP and Hunter to commit to their SR year. Wouldn't that be cool...

Definitely isn't the Tennessee football I grew up watching. The kids I work with (6-12 year olds) don't think we've ever been relevant. I have lots of correcting to do. :hi:

I hear ya buddy. After 5 SEC games we are tied with Kentucky for last place in the East. We are looking up at Missouri and Vandy. That should never happen under any circumstance.

if dooley is fired, it will 100% be at the end of the season. There is no way they are going to fire him now. People on this board need to think for once. These are the most b.s. rumors, but at the sight of one "my friend this guy" or "this guy on twitter said" everyone takes it as confirmed truth.

No chance they wait till the end of the year. Why exactly wouldnt they fire him before then? Makes no sense not to. Our last 2week fired Coach's were done during the season as will this one. Use your head bro.

Troy isn't a joke. They had MSU on the ropes and are a pass happy offense. They match up really well against our failing secondary.

Exactly and they are catching us off of a heartbreaking loss and tough SEC run.
A loss wouldnt surprise me at all.

Troy will be a tough game. If we somehow lose, Dooley is canned

Not one shred of evidence to point to that right now. If it was going to happen, and no one truly knows how things happened this weekend, it would have been today.

At this point I have no confidence losing to Troy AND Vandy are out if the realm of possibilities and neither is Dooley being on the sidelines for Kentucky even if we are 1-2 in the next 3 weeks.

This will get screwed up most likely, nothing to hang my hat on to think otherwise.

We could go 0 for November if Dooley remains coach.... what game do we have left that is a shoe in as long as "the Dooley Luck" is in play
