Official Jon Gruden Thread IV

To clarify then. When you posted that "it is a done deal" and "Gruden will be the next coach," was it a fact that you were reporting or your opinion/belief? There is a big difference between the two.

I have to agree with SBV, he never said "when."

Oh, VolNation, will you ever not take the bait every time a two-bit radio show host decides to dig around the rumor mill?

Of course, I think we all do. It's just, after Basillio's "sources" have been wrong multiple times, does it not signal that maybe he's just completely full of crap?

I trust SBV.

And Skeeter said Dooley is as good as gone.

Too many reliable people to not believe Dooley is, as Kenny Powers would say...

So if we eventually get Gruden "the deal was done weeks/months ago, they were just ironing out details before an announcement."

And if we don't get Gruden, "he had agreed to a deal, but by the time Dooley was officially fired, he had other people in his ear or he changed his mind, or financials fell through at the last minute."

You are the perfect devil's advocate. Your mood changes with the mood of VN. If everything is going well, you chugg right along and are happy, but if everyone is calling each other out you are right there with them.

No, my opinion has not changed.

And if you and others have noticed I have not said one word about the timing of things or how they might go down - because I DON"T KNOW. NO ONE DOES.

Everyone on here can choose to believe or listen to whoever they want - that is the beauty of it all - but don't get all pissy when it doesn't work out the way you wanted it to.

As far as Tony B's comments this morning - from a purely operational standpoint, that seems to be the way it's going down - but again, I don't know this.

He is wrong about other things...

I take it your sources are from outside the UT AD?
That would explain how you can expect Gruden to be our next coach but not know the timeline.

Very possible. And irrelevant at the same time. We will have made a major upgrade in the process

And if we don't get Gruden, "he had agreed to a deal, but by the time Dooley was officially fired, he had other people in his ear or he changed his mind, or financials fell through at the last minute."

Thats possible as well as many other things. Its also irrelevant because he won't be here

.

I think that was just people thinking it would be cool if that happened. Don't really think any "insiders" said that would happen.

0 insiders said that.

One originally said it could be after Troy.

One never gave a timeline at all.

Most of the stuff people think "insiders" said, they didn't even say. People are just confusing stuff they read throughout the thread and believe everyone is insider.

It was my belief that an agreement had been reached based on a conversation I had. Here is what I said again and still believe to be true:

I have full confidence that an agreement has been reached. It's done.

Jon Gruden will be the next head football coach at the University of Tennessee.

No, VN's mood just fluctuates from our collective manic depressive mood swings, and I try to be the voice of reason. Sometimes I get carried away whenever the collective opinion gets too far one direction or the other.

Hart will wait to see if he can get any bowl money out of it= lose again and Dooley is gone Sunday afternoon, after the second NFL game ends

To cut the ones some slack that said Dooley is gone this week if he loses to USCe, I don't recall them saying it would be made public. Dooley still could have been notified by Hart and both agreed to just finish out the yeaf. Really no need for an interim imo.

Quote from DocVol on Saturday:

"This has been the scheduled departure for at least the last week an a half. It's going to happen--Dooley has been done for weeks.

I still believe it will be made official Sunday and Gruden will make a public comment about accepting the position on MNF.

Official Gruden introduction on Tuesday or Wednesday. Hinshaw will be named interim for the rest of the season".

I guess I missed the public announcement yesterday.
