Official Jon Gruden Thread IV

Here is where I see this which leads me to a question.

DD isn't going to be the coach in 2013

Gruden is possible but not as likely as many including me thought yesterday. It's certainly not a done deal.

Back channeling is on going to find a replacement for DD.

If all of this is accurate then why is there so much anger toward Hart for letting DD finish the season???????

Because the fans need confirmation that the AD gives a crap and is actually working...instead of smoking stogies and laughing about the bruhaha...

What gets me are the dwindling number of Dooley supporters keep wanting to point to a "but our losses are to really good top 25 teams" as an argument for keeping him. It's like they just found out that the SEC schedule is tough.

OK. maybe that was a stretch...but it has to be better than ETSU, Vandy, MT, NE State, etc. etc,

Am I wrong on the base point though?

You've done gone full retard! I love UT but there is no way you get a better education at UT than you can get at Candy.

now we have guys that were claiming business, AD and team/player sources saying they know noone, have no inside contacts and are relying on anonymous posters.

Really?

Remember this Gruden "thing" happened exactly like this at Miami as well. "agreed in principle", saw Gruden looking at girlsin south beach, etc, etc..... Then Randy Shannon. Guess no one wants to learn. Do you really believe UT is going to spend 5-6.5 million dollars on just a head coach. Plus his asisstants might want another 500,000-1000000 each. Easy today you want Gruden, but who on here has Gruden money waiting. With Dooleys buyout, plus Gruden and his assistants salaries. That's king to be a total of anywhere from 9-12 million. You want someone else to spend their money, what are you going to contribute.

I'll be happy to give them my regular donation that goes along with buying my tickets. If Dooley is still the coach when my renewal comes in the mail early next year, they won't be getting it.

I knew all these Gruden stuff is BS. Haha, looks like Dooley isn't going anywhere! I tell ya, only at Tennessee, smh.

Where are you seeing Dooley isnt going anywhere? Gruden isnt a guarantee but if you think Dooley is coaching next season you have completely lost your mind. There is no way UT can afford to keep him. Our schedule is brutal next year so he would be lucky to be 6-6 and he has lost the fanbase and most supporters. They cant afford to not fire him.

Your point is solid.
I think a lot of the "anger" is fear that CDD will be back for 2013. That fear won't go away without an official announcement to the contrary.
Also, anyone who still believes CJoG has agreed in principle with a booster may be blaming Hart for nothing happening yet.

Any UT fan that trys to make the point that its ok that we lost because the other team was ranked, should be repeatedly kicked in the balls!

The ADs first responsibility is to do what's best for the program. If he hasn't gotten a replacement lined up then letting DD go today isn't what's best for the program. Fans want to hear something but that isn't his first priority.

1. I hope Gruden Comes to TN,if he dont Oh well, i will still wake up the next day and have a life to live
2. I like CDD, I wish he would have been able to complete the job he started out to do
3. Most people on this board are going insane and spewing crap about THE CURRENT HEAD COACH and it makes me sick, Like him dont like him Whatever but you will never convince me CDD did not give his all for UT and the roaster and overall health of the football program is in MUCH better shape than when he took the job
4. Facts are this, our D is terrible but any switch from the 4-3 to the 3-4 is bad in the first year ( see GA as example)
5. I think most fans just want to win and could really care less who the coach is as long as the W's are coming in every fall, I am one of them but stop and think for a second before you personally degrade our head coach take a deep breath no matter what happens it is not the end of the world. The SEC comes and goes in cycles our time will come again.
6. Fire dave heart I ...LOL prob the same people who was saying what a great job he done in Summit gate a few weeks back...Good lord calm down people!!!!!
7. Romney/ Ryan. Enough said.
8. Gruden Gruden Gruden Gruden ( one can hope)

Go Vols!

Anyone care to give a summary of any new updates in the last 24 hrs...?

On today's Sports Animal radio talk show in Tampa it was mentioned that Jon Grunden was contemplating taking the head coaching position at UT. Didn't say anything about he was going to or not just that he was thinking about it. This is the first discussion of this matter on Tampa sports shows and the two commentators are well into college and professional sports scenes and know a number of insiders on all sports related issues.

This would sort of jive with some posters that have said the powers to be at UT have contacted Gruden and possibly outlined a sample contract.

Even if Gruden accepts the position I see Dooley finishing out the year and the announcement made after the regular season ends. One of the assistants can coach the Vols in the bowl game if they get eligible which we would all hope they do after what happened last year.
