Official Jon Gruden Thread IV

At this point, Basilio's stance is the only thing that makes sense if Dooley is indeed done as so many claim. Basilio said in his blog that Dooley is basically dead man walking but the AD doesn't want to get rid of him in season because then you have the circus of a coaching search right out in public view. Whereas, as long as Dooley is here the Gruden stuff is just a "curiosity". That logic at least makes sense in regard to keeping Dooley through the season. However, after today I am no longer in the "I believe Dooley is already done" camp. I hope that but at the least it seems there is a possibility he is still being "evaluated". I hope Basilio is right...the guy is right more than he is wrong...sometimes the details are inaccurate but he usually has a good idea of the eventual outcome...especially this year with the Da'Rick stuff and the Cam Clear stuff...some of the details were wrong but he knew the outcome.

I have no info other than the rumors on this site and others, all second hand (at best) information. I want to believe that we hire a big-time coach and that the Dooley era is over. If Hart believes otherwise and chooses to accept and endorse mediocrity, then I will support my Vols from afar. The discretionary income I typically dedicate to UT related purchases will cease to be.

Now that is just me and I am not a wealthy (by any stretch) season ticket holding booster type so I am just a small pebble in the grand scheme of things. The problem for Hart will be the fact that there are a lot of us small pebbles.

I am wondering what is it going to take to fire him a 30 point loss to troy. Sunshine pumpers think he will still be coach next year terrible.

I am going to the Troy game because of a promise to my son. He is 7, going to his first game. After that, I am done as long as Dooley is here. They can have the tickets we have bought for 19 years. Or maybe I will just sell them to our competitors since they will be worthless here if he stays.

Yes, for the first time I will admit. IDGAF if we win or lose the rest of the way. Hart is not the man many thought he was going to be in this situation it seems.

Today is the first time since the Miss State game that the idea of a Dooley coached team being here to get kicked around in 2013 seems like more than a remote possibility. This AD is completely in a state of disarray.

And you were there, and you heard this yourself, correct?

And don't call me a Dooley-lover. I'd like to see us start winning again, too.

But I'm sick of people repeating posts as if they were fact. Unless you were there, you don't know if this happened.

Look buddy, I heard it on the radio so it has to be true. Plus the general consenus is the guy is a major dick.

Calm down ma'am I was joking about your previous post...I agree..too may BS rumors being passed as fact.Doesn't change the fact that I still want Gruden.

I don't know which previous post, unless it was the one complaining about the bad feed, but whatever. :hi:

Off to go kick something now.

Haha all these rumors have been exactly just that! No substance at all and Dooley will be here the remainder of the season and possibly next year if he wins out. It sucks but it's the reality. Flame away. Just trying to bring everyone back from cloud nine.

Beating Troy, Mizzou, Vandy and UK isnt going to save his job and if he is coaching the last 4minute I doubt we win all 4. Vandy is definitely a good chance as another L. Being 0-12 against Ala, GA,UF and SC isnt going to get you another year and throw in LSU and UK he is 1-15..No excuse for that.

I'd bet money that you're not a Tennessee fan. You've been a tard since you arrived all of one month ago.

Name call all you want. When I was at school at UT we NEVER lost to Bama or South Carolina and we certainly paid zero attention to Vandy and UK.

Then I suffered the indignity of Kiffin and the embarrassment of Fooley. I wear my Tennessee pride on my sleeve. You'll never see me acting like these idiots on this thread wishing and hoping and acting like complete nonsensical lies are to be treated as gospel just because you want them to be true.

I'll always call bull**** on fools that want to stir the pot with ridiculous rumors. I keep a level head and realize that the truth is always more mundane that the dream.

Don't blame Hart for the inaccurate info provided by your "source".

Mine have been saying CDD isn't leaving and I've been scorched for it. They also said the boosters are trying to force Hart into a move. They said Harts being difficult. They've been on the money and it pisses me off!!!

I'm pissed because they've been right.

from a sheer revenue stand point I do not see how Hart can keep Dooley after this season. Sure the budget is out of whack but the odds of having great income next year with this same staff is 0%...unless they miraculously start winning. People are going to buy less season tickets...less people will go to the lower level games...etc

Follow the money trail if you have any doubts about Dooley being gone. Will cost more to keep him than firing him.

It was the one that I quoted...You are heated up...not that I blame you ...The situation over there pisses me off but at this point I have to laugh..I hope Hart handles his business:salute:

Many of the "insiders" in this thread agree that Hart made a promise to a few assistant coaches, and that is causing issues with this coaching change. Sorry if I missed it, but does anyone know which assistant coaches and what was promised?

I love these posts. Almost as much as the " I'm a realist" ones.

You missed the context. Gruden or no Gruden...4 threads of discussion point to one thing...the fans are tired of this shat...and the program will crash and burn if not made right...again genius, I say, Gruden or Not...

Eventually money will make him cave you would think.

Yep, this old adage applies: To make money, you have to spend money.

This is not good coming from you...

What the heck happened that's gotten this place so riled up? On my phone in class so I haven't heard anything today. Someone give me the skinny.

Sure they're way too willing to buy into rumors. They're looking for any reason to believe that a Super Bowl winning coach may be coming to coach our Vols next year. Sometimes, reason flies out the window in the presence of unbridled optimism for the coaching hire.

Honestly, can you blame any of them?

"Them"?? I remember a guy saying he had high hopes as well...
