The Joker does not give that statement he made validity. If Joker were to beat a team in the top 8 of the BCS, then maybe. Not totally sure of his w/l record, but if you are going solely off of his win against an unranked UT then your football knowledge rivals his. In it's ineptitude that is :hi: .

The Vols 5 losses are to teams currently rank #'s 1,6,7,8, and 15 in the latest BCS poll. Alabama(1) and Florida(7) were home losses, the other 3 were road losses.

Not sure if I really should have expected a team that did not go to a bowl last season, be able to beat those teams this season....

heck, we're all going to die at some point... so why wait? point being the result is irrelevant... it's how you get there that matters.

he's done.

You seem so certain about something you can't possibly know the answer to.

Just for fun, let's just suppose that Tennessee hired Nick Saban. Still think it will take 5 to 10 more years? Doubt it.

The point is TN can't hire Saban. There aren't really any other Sabans out there. That argument is illogical--if we hired Vince Lombardi, we'd probably do better too but that's not going to happen.

Only they weren't all in the top 7 like they are right now. And that is NOT how it used to be. It won't be a problem when we have our roster built up to par. Oue next coach will be fortunate to not deal with what Dooley has. There are actual SEC players on the team now. Not the case @ the end of 2009.

If there are SEC players on there, then what's the excuse for not winning an SEC game? Whatever you want to think.... Excuses all around..

Then let's just accept mediocrity and move on with dooley and never expect to beat anyone of significance again.

Excuse? Not from me. Just pointing out the facts. Of course it is whatever I want to think. Just like anyone else. Insightful post as usual.

Excuses all round for this guy and this staff. I've got a good question give me Dooley's signature win with UT?

I wanted some comedic relief this morning so the answers should be fantastic.... the only one that comes to mind is NC state at the beginning of this year, when we thought they were a vaunted secondary....

thoughts......

The quality of our opponents to date is duly (Dooley) noted. It is a certain fact that there are only 30 or so teams in the country that would have faced this schedule and won 1 of the first 5 SEC games.

But these teams will continue to be great (with the exception of Ms State, although Dan Mullen is a pretty good coach). Is it that we can never expect to beat UF, UA, UGA, USCe, or the random SECW opponent (LSU, Ark, Aub, MsSU, or TAMU) that is having a gangbuster season because, well, they're better than us? Are we to therefore expect that we will never be greater than 7-5 or 8-4 unless we pull off a miraculous upset because, well, they're better than us? Do we want to be that type of program that is satisfied with losses because we play in a conference with high-quality teams - a'la Arizona, who has averaged 5 losses per year since 1987 (since they have USC, UCLA, Stanford, Oregon, Cal, AZ State and the rest of the Pac-Ten to look up to)?

If that is the level of mediocrity we want to become in the future, somebody let me know so I can either stop giving a damn or start petitioning for us to join the OVC or Sun Belt conference so we can pencil in a few 10-2 or 9-3 seasons every few years.

Those programs we face each year to start our schedule are not going away, we cannot keep starting the SEC 0-5. It is obvious that a change needs to be made so that we do not start being associated with Vandy and KY.

I agree about having some SEC talent. I also agree that we have some great talent that is being wasted.

Oh yes it does, beating a team your school hasn't beat in nearly 30 yrs with a Wr as your Qb is a Upset regardless of Tennessee not being ranked! Stay off that ish in ur avatar brah..

No. Gruden the Savior is coming to save us all. He will show his SB ring around town and all will be well. So you can stay a Vol fan. The three years of losing games to the best teams in the nation are over. Glad to have you back. It was getting lonely around "hear".

I know it says alot that our loses have come to quality opponents. But if we want to compete for titles, we have to be able to beat the best week in and week out. This is the SEC. We're expecting to lose anytime we play a named opponent. Dools still doesn't have the signature SEC win!

Yes. Dooley is leaving guys on the bench who should be playing. :eek:lol: . Great talent is HARD to hide. Block somebody. Tackle someone. Catch the ball. Cover your man. Fight off of a block every now and again. Who exactly is being wasted by the coaching staff again?

I'm not saying guys on the bench. I'm talking about guys on the defensive side of the ball. Bad scheme or underdevelopment, it's brutal.
