Peyton Manning is back and is using Sunday Night Football's game against the Saints to make a statement! He is carving their defense apart every offensive possession he has. Great to see him back in orange and white (with navy blue) breaking this defense apart! #18....the living legend :yes:

Congratulations to Peyton. He just became the 2nd quarterback in NFL history to throw for at least 300 yds. and 3 touchdowns in four consecutive games. I believe that they said that Steve Young was the only other qb to do so.

With his intelligence, personality, love and appreciation for UT, and football savy... I believe Peyton would be an awesome OC or AD for the VOLS. In time, and with OC experience under a great HC, he could become a great HC, as well.

Wow, he sure did dismantle the Saints D tonight: 34 - 17! Great job Peyton! Broncos got the job done.

I wouldn't say he's the best of "all the great players" that UT has had but he is a top 5. Someone needs to start a thread about that very thing...a poll to see just who do we think is the top 10 players of all time to play at UT depending on "the era" that was played. Peyton has certainly represented UT very well in all things done on & off the field without question of any doubt. Johnny Majors was also a really great player in his time of the 50's. Just depends on "the era" that was played in my opinion as to the greatest Vol of them All.

Awesome game tonight by Peyton. Dungee said he probably would lead Bronco's on 7-9 game win streak. I look forward to the day he comes home to TN

as a Vol. That is THE number. The 18 stuff is in his second life as an NFLer.

I don't know if he will have that fire in his belly when he retires from the NFL but if he does, I would love to see him on the sidelines of Neyland on Saturdays. Clearly he is the offensive coordinator "on the field" for several years and that experience can serve him well at his alma mater.

No doubt he has the ability to be a coach at any level. Would love to see him back in orange and on the Tennessee sidelines once more!

...Manning also recently bought a part of the Memphis NBA franchise.

I don't see him as an on field presence in the NFL or for his alma mater once his NFL days are done.

My feeling is that his interest and future will be in media and business. He could become something of a "rainmaker" for his alma mater's football/athletic department, but I'd be surprised to see him on the field.

Would he be a good coach ? Probably.

Will he be ? I have my doubts.

I said the same thing last week after looking at their remaining schedule. That's a pretty strong limb Dungy crawled out onto.

If the rest of the team had played as well as Peyton did in those Florida games, then TENNESSEE would have won at least some of them with him at QB. As it was, the team lost to Florida -- not one player. The "never beat Florida" thing is totally over-blown.

And yes, I do think that Peyton can now be considered the greatest Vol of all-time. Future CFB and NFL first ballot Hall of Famer, arguably the greatest player ever at the most important position, terrific ambassador for the game and the school...

And don't forget that he came back for his senior year when he was a slam-dunk 1st overall draft pick. Don't ever forget that.

Neither did any of the other Vols on his same teams. Most Vols never beat Florida either....but he won us a S.E.C. Championship and is a multiple time winner of the N.F.L. M.V.P. award and a Super Bowl Champion and Super Bowl M.V.P. winner. IMO he is the greatest Vol of them all...my opinion...and the greatest ambassador to the university to IMO.
