Postgame Press Confrence?

It seems to me that if that scenario plays out, it proves we are better against Mizzou, Vandy and Kentucky (which puts us mid pack in the east). If that scenario plays out it means that we gave UGA, SCAR, MSU and UF all they really wanted. We did that with only 6 or so seniors on the roster, meaning we are still a full year short in the weight room, a full year short recruits, a full year short of better players to practice against.

I am not trying to get moral victories, I am not trying to sunshine pump or Dooley love. I am trying to be realistic. I see a team that couldn't run the ball last year, couldn't run block last year playing against the best defenses in the country and looking pretty good. I see a team that didn't have the gas to play but for about half a game last year, playing down to the wire this year. I see a team that if we hadn't made a switch to a 3-4 defense, would be getting all of the credit in the world this year.

Regardless of Dooley's future here, what he has done he has done with class and with our best interest in mind. He has done everything he could. Maybe he isn't the right man for the job long term, but I can't fault him for his effort, heart and for the foundation he has built.

He gets it ^^^

This morning Doug Matthews was incredulous that Dooley said "he didn't spend any time with the defense", leaving that to other coaches. He also said he feels that Hart has made his decision, but that nobody will know until the moment comes. Makes sense. All the speculation is just that, so have fun with it.

There's a real difference between DD and Saban who spends about his entire time with the Defense. But DD history has alwys been on the Offense side of the ball so what does one expect.

I'm too disgusted to listen to all the lame excuses again... already heard them too many times before.

I still yell, "Go Vols!" I am also yelling "Go Derek Dooley! Go back to Athens, Georgia and learn some coaching skills from your daddy. But this time, listen to him!"

I really don't hear excuses. He is straight to the point, "We did not execute". I think the man has told it like it is from day one. Last year he was criticized for 'throwing players under the bus' and this year he has been 'nice'. According to him he tells the players what he tells the press.

I won't defend the guy. He knew he had to get it done and win and he has not. I think he understands that in this program you win or go home. I think he knows that his window of opportunity has closed. I doubt you see him sit a cry about getting fired.

I have to wonder why he would opt to change to a 3-4 defensive scheme with his job on the line. Was he desperate and grabbed for anything that might change the dynamic, or did he sit down with the staff, evaluate as best he could, his defensive talent and make a decision based upon what he thought would cure the defensive shortcomings.

The guy is not stupid. He was trying to stop the bleeding. Sunseri is a coach with credentials. Too sad all around.

I think Hart wanted Sunseri and Dooley did not have much choice!

when he took over, we were 6-7...he's gone 6-7, 5-7 and 3-5 so far....3 consecutive 0-5 sec starts...only VANDY has ever accomplished that horrid feat before....are we REALLY in a " much better position" now?...and please dont give me that "we've been competitive and almost won some games" stuff...what's the saying...." you are what your record says you are"

I think we're in a better position b/c

1) we have NFL talent all over the place, and we had the most returning starters in the SEC this year (and since almost all of them are juniors, we'll return the same number next year)

2) Our most glaring weakness at this point is coaching It's easier to replace coaches and get immediate results than to replace players with scholarship and recruiting limitations

He's a good guy sucks it didn't work out. Dooley needs to take a massive paycut and coach TE's or something.

There is no one out there that could have turned this team around in < 3 years. To everyone's surprise, these blogs represent < 1 % of the total fan base, I am glad you bunch of idiots get your jollies bashing these people who took on a job no one wanted, at any price and what does the fan base do...........this bunch of BS.

It sickens me to see how fast you bunch of a.. holes reacted to what I think is valant effort to get UT back where it should. Whether its Dooley or someone else, I am convinced that most you will never be happy unless you just go over and be a Bama fan.

Your exactly right. These blogs have exactly zero impact on what is about to happen. Neyland stadium with it's empty seats is making this decision necessary. Think about it. It's a business.

So lets just say that cdd did try n jump ship after the Kent game last year... how would feel about his valiant effort to bring ut back??? It could be he doesn't care about ut like everyone thinks n it was just a job n nothing more to him..

Overton. You are correct, Gallatin was the measuring stick back then. We didn't have to play them in 81 when we won State and we were 1-2 against them the other three years I was there. They kept us from advancing in 82 and 83. We beat them in 84, but lost to Hamilton the next week. The team really has never been the same since Coach Coutras left.

I haven't been back to see them play since 02.

I remember Overton being THE dominant football school in Nashville. Are they still the last metro team to win the state? Their wrestling team was kick ass in the 80's as well. I went to DuPont and our football team sucked

Regardless of what many think.....Dooley is not a stupid man.....when I heard DD say that I initially thought the same thing as Matthews, but then thought he may have been saying that Sunseri wasn't his choice without coming right out and saying it

I think we were, I can't remember another doing it. The wrestling team wasn't to shabby in the 90s either. I know they had a really good run in the mid-90s.
