Official Jon Gruden Thread IV

Aside from the obvious awesomeness of getting Gruden, an added bonus will be all of the rival fans having to eat their words. Some of the stuff they say about this forum and our fans are horrible. To be fair, we do have a couple of dumb people that sign up over there and say stupid stuff but that's besides the point. I can't wait for them to do a 180 and then use the excuses "congrats on hiring a coach that hasn't coached in college since 1991" and "he's gonna be bust". Man, I hate rival fans! haha

And we can tell them that at least he does have a shiny Super Bowl ring.:)

If Hart announces he is backing Dooley, I'm burning my house to the ground.

That will show Hart and it'll be on him.

Had a text from one earlier that reads "Y'all aren't getting Gruden, give it up. Even if you do, he can't beat Saban." Can't wait for this to happen.

His record is long enough at two schools to indicate otherwise. How about he is a coach with a terrible record, never won a meaningful game, joined Vandy as by making UT one of only two schools to begin conference play 0-5 three years in a row. Maybe successful below the WAC?

I don't want to get into a "will he ever amount to anything as a HC debate". I just think he probably knows more about the game than most are willing to admit. Whether he could be a successful position coach (which he must of been or Saban would have ditched him), or maybe someday he could be a great coordinator on O, or just have an outstanding eye for talent, he still has some talents that can't be dismissed. I don't know if he will ever make it in a big league or drop to D2 or high school; however he seems to have some great qualities in coaching. I think his biggest problem is getting his players to do what he wants them to do. He fixes that and he is golden IMO. Granted he should have more experience and a better understanding of coaching on his way out of UT than he had going in.

Not only eating their words but they'll be shatting their pants!

Hart isn't dumb enough to stick his neck out with the status of everything. He knows how much anger is ready to pour out from this fan base. Supporting Dooley by holding a presser would cause backlash.

If Hart was going to back Dooley he would've by now IMO.

highly doubt if we let dooley go, they announce gruden on MNF, just a terrible way to do things. Gruden (if he is indeed the next coach) needs to be on the UT campus to announce.

I can defend him no longer. It proved to be an exercise in futility. I wish him the best but he has to go.

My thoughts as well!
