It's funny/sad that all of those guys are HUGE upgrades over Dooley.

I am not Jay, but Gruden would be an instant upgrade over Dooley. He would be a better recruiter and x's and o's coach. I also believe he would assemble a very good staff.

Unfortunately, Gruden seems like a pipe dream at this point.

So we have went from Dooley is a sitting duck and Gruden is about to be fired...to who knows when it will happen and Gruden is not the next coach? Just trying to catch up. TIA

I know people won't agree with me, but if this is the case, Sal should be let go or moved to a position coach and let CDD bring in who he wants to bring in next year and give him another year with the coach he wants. Sounds like it might have been randy shannon since everybody thought he was coming here. Sounds like he was paving the way for smart to come in and take over and now none of the boosters want an assistant to coach. They want a big name.

I don't know if we would have two. Maybe one. We put up enough points in the florida game to beat them. Those big plays probably wouldn't have happened in that game and the offense would have played the same through the third and fourth quarters. IMO

That is what I have been trying to say. We have a very good offense. What we need is defense. Strong would fix the D. All he would have to do his bring a OC that is better at calling a game, but wouldn't tear the O to peices trying to force feed a whole new scheme. Gruden doesn't fix anything unless he brings a great DC with him.

If this is the case, show Hart the door, maybe Cheek too. Promote David Blackburn and let's let the coaches coach and keep who they want to keep. This season should be on Hart's shoulders and he needs to step up and tell the fans what happened and let CDD coach. This Gruden talk wouldn't be going on and we would be on top in the East, playing bama again in the SECCG.

i would not disagree with that hire at all. he can recruit well, is a great defensive mind, and would easily upgrade the staff, keep jay graham on board. My only worry like everything is him bolting for the NFL after some success. Not like Gruden would do the same, but he has been there done that.

No I didn't see him. Gray has passed him which isn't a surprise or slight to Bonner. Gray was a true sleeper after only playing HS football for 2 years I think. The boy is a very very good athlete and can run with any WR. When I first saw the kid's film I liked what he brought to the table.

SN: all that Wilcox talk is crazy. His defenses would've looked worse if we had been able to score in games last year. You guys forgot how Julio set a Bama WR record versus his cover 0. AM11 should've had 300+ passing yards against us in the UGA game. Against the same cover 0 no safety in the middle of the field. Mobile QBs still killed us with him too. Anybody remember how Chris Rainey ate us alive by himself for Florida last year? Cincinatti was more from players making plays than him calling a helluva a game. They were moving the ball but they couldn't get the 4th and shorts. Our last two D-coordinators have been not good at all. And Wilcox had his hands on the secondary too. And I watched them play terrible(no progress was made) with his stamp all over them.

They can't really compete with us for him. If he wants to leave and he should, then they can't match anything. Our facilities, conference play, resources, tradition, are too much for a Big East school to match. I personally have him right behind Gruden. I liked watching the Charlie Strong defenses of Florida. And he would absolutely wreck the state of Florida recruiting wise. I would bet we wouldn't have a LB depth/talent problem under him right now.

Strong is one of a short list of coaches that would immediately eliminate some of our natural recruiting disadvantages.
