Official Jon Gruden Thread IV

Ok, so I know it's a pain, but the last time I checked this thread it was the "old" thread. I took the time to head down to Columbia and watch our Vols fall to SC. All in all it was a fun day b/c I thought I was witnessing Dooley's last game. That's what the insiders were saying (Jay, Boro, etc.)

Can someone give a Vol fan a synopsis of where we are and if today is still the day? If not, why and when is it expected? TIA and GO VOLS!

Today is not the day...apparently

What does everybody think of the headline on the ESPN.com rumors page that "Dooley might need a bowl win to save his job"?

One advantage to dismissing Dooley now? It makes an unspoken statement that Troy/Mizzou/Vandy/UK are not games that save your job, and the previous games are the ones UT desires to win.

However, that's a pretty easy statement to work into a coaching change press conference so I see no reason to freak out if nothing changes in the next 24-48 hrs.

Honestly, I'd rather Dooley come out, announce he hasn't met expectations and will resign at the end of the season. He coaches out the string, UT can begin to move on.

Won't hold my breath.

Gruden is #2. And #3. It would take a FUBAR of Biblical proportions for this not to happen.

If Hart blows this thing up, is he going to reach up and tap the "I gave my all for Alabama today" plaque that is hanging in his office.

If he truly has the best interests of the Tennessee football program in mind, and Gruden is as available as you make him out to be, there is no way you procrastinate even a second in closing the deal.

Is comprehension that big of an issue today? do we have a lot of fans who skipped that part of learning and went with the Cliff Notes version?

Just on Grudens side alone he has contracts and obligations that he needs to work things out on his side as well.
