Tired of Hearing This...

Kiffin personally said that he himself needed a raise not his dad and the rest of them. But your right. We need to hire another high paid staff like the winning teams have.

Kiffin was paid 2 million. His daddy was paid 1 million. 2 million dollars is BOTTOM of the SEC money. Several OC/DC make near 1 million now. Yes, we had a high paid staff with Kiffin. The problem is that a high paid staff at UT makes about as much as the HC at 8 of the other SEC schools.

So you don't think we would've reallocated the money to give more to a proven HC? And no, that staff was ranked in the top 10 in the NCAa in total money dished out if im not mistaken.

Woulda Coulda

The numbers show coaches at UT make around 2 million dollars. Fulmer, Kiffin, Dooley all make right about the same money. As everyone else in the SEC has paid MORE for coaches, we hold firm at 2 million. Monte was paid top DC money at the time. We went from paying 1 million for him to 650 grand for Wilcox to 800 grand for Sal. Trying to pay decent OC/DC money while paying your HC bottom of the SEC money gets you beat. I would think that is very clear about now.

So you saying UT AD is going to fire DD and staff which would cost roughly 9 Million and Give Gruden 6 Million which is a grand total of 15 Million? This quote reaffirms why Gruden will not be Coaching at UT.

So answer the question. We outpaid our competition by 1 million compared to the rest of the SEC when it came to assistants. You honestly don't think of that 3.3 million we paid to the all star cast of assistants, we wouldn't have given a proven HC more money? Most pundits said Muschamp turned down a 3+ million dollar salary. The only alternative would've been to hire Kippy as an interim and then try again as no big hire was going to come here.

We are all afraid you might be right. UT does not pull the trigger unless Haslam or some other big dollar contributors step up.

It is only 9 million if every coach is let go and if they regain employment their new salary offsets the buyout and under their contract they have to seek new employment. It has been stated on here many times Dooley has breached his contract and will probably have to negotiate a lower buyout so the 9 million is not accurate.

It doesn't matter guys, without better DB's and depth all around, no head coach is winning much in October for a while! Please dont say we have depth or i don't want to hear the we don't have depth argument. Because if we had depth we could bench people for screwing up, but the truth is the ones behind them damn sure ain't going to win us any games. It's a catch 22 for anyone.

Your incorrect. Our total coaches salaries in 2009 were 4th in the SEC. It was an 11% increase over what Fulmer & staff would have made had they been kept. Our HC was still paid well below what top coaches in the conference were making.

I am only stating what was said by others on herebut his agent appaently contacted North Carolina when their job was open without first letting UT know which is a breach of his contract. I am no insider and am only repeating rumor.

Tennessee does not have a history of negotiating very well.

Heck, they just handed Hamilton a million dollar "leaving bonus" under absolutely no obligation to do so.

Yeah I agree and I also think it would be worth every penny of the 5 million to move on.

im not defending dooley, but to say we haven't been competitive is stupid

We will agree to disagree.

We have been competitive in individual games.

However, our record is certainly not competitive. This is such a fall from where we used to be, and we're sounding more and more like Vanderbilt. They take consolation in playing teams tough.

yeah i guess the fact that weve had the ball in the 4th quarter with a chance to win every game this season except bama means we arent competitive...if watching our defense wasnt worse than watching the end of old yeller we would be 7-1 easily

You sound like Vandy of the 90s. Dore fans used to say all their wins were so close - if only the offense could put up one more TD. UT fans used to laugh at them for this. Sigh......:jpshakehead:

This is my sentiment. I look at the record in the SEC when I judge competitness while some may look at having a good half or a good game. I respest their opinion and understand but I remember when we were everybodies tough game.
