1st and 10. 3 Timeouts. 1:10 Left. In FG range. Down by 3. And we try to pass?

Yeah that is totally on the coaches.

It's hard to defend these guys anymore. That game was ours.

Bad playcalling.

I agree, there were better options.
That being said, they went for the win and they came up short because of dumb luck. Don't get all butt hurt and go on the typical ignorant rant about firing the coaching staff.

Oh shut up. Bray was on fire & USCe couldn't cover our WRs. There was nothing wrong with that play call on that play. Now, there were some questionable calls earlier, but that was just bad luck that Clowney caused that fumble.

Totally agree. Tiny missed his block for about the first time the whole game. It's just Dooley luck. He is definitely snake bit.

Palardy... the guy who had a 11 and 20 yd punt that set up 2tds...

Remind me how many yards they had to go to get those Td's and how Palardy played every snap on defense after he kicked.

You know I hate Palardy I was not defending him. When we lose games he goes off and parties...
But he has to do nearly every kicking job... and that puts a lot of stress on the leg of a previously injured player...

The better choice would have been to run the ball with CP in the backfield guaranteed at least on first down..

Hindsight being what it is, run the ball and kick the fg with....Palardy! But seriously, there were so many things that could've been done differently. Still, it all falls back on our hideous secondary. 35 points is enough to win most games.

Totally agree. Our secondary is terrible. I just wonder if they could get it down next year but if we can get Gruden, then I will gladly pass on the opportunity.

In close games field position is one of the most important aspects. You would be shutting up real quick if their punter let out a palardy special 11 yarder and put us on the 50 with 55 seconds left

Think I'll wear an orange tie to church in the morning. They played hard. I love the Vols. Wish things were different; don't know what's next.

What really sucks is that as bad as the defense has been all year and with our punting game and kicking woes, this team could be 6-2 instead of 3-5. Yeah, I know. If a frog had wings...

This team and staff just can't catch a break. From the sh*t calls from the refs to the one play where Clowney beat Tiny we still had chances to win the game yet again. Just like UGA. Just like Miss St. Just couldn't seal the deal for the umpteenth time.

I'm just sick and tired of f'n losing.

Um...no. Getting a FG would not have meant the game was ours, it would only have meant we would have had a chance to win in OT on the road. And you are also putting your trust in Palardy to kick a game-tying FG, something I don't believe he has ever done. Not to mention if Dooley had played conservative and ran the ball to set up the FG, the thread would be about Dooley was afraid to go for the win and was stupid to put the game in Palardy's hands.

It's not laughable Bray was looking for a quick strike to the endzone... he held it longer than usual in this range because his o-line had been great all game...

no one can be blamed they played hard this is 3 games better than last year were in the same position everyone layed down. I don't want moral victories but the truth is ....they will not be moral victories much longer. I think it will translate better next year... Sunseri has to revamp the strength of his secondary by recruiting and training better Db's

Good post. Byron Moore is the worst safety EVER. He is killing our team.

Go play in the traffic Neg......on the road with the crippled D the Vols have you play for the win.....add the fact that the Vols don't have a reliable kicker and your comment go full retard

So, I've been a pretty consistent contender for a coaching change on this board, BUT...

Over and over I read complaints about how Chaney doesn't seem to stick with what we do well (i.e., if we're running well, we seem to abandon the run and go full steam ahead in the passing game).

Now, I'm reading an entire thread complaining that we DIDN'T abandon what was working?

Perhaps the case could be made for a different type of play call, but reality is, the defender made an incredible move, and it turned out to be a game-changer.

I'm still rooting for a new coaching staff, but in this particular game, to start a thread like this is the equivalent of the ol' "you can't have your cake and eat it too".

good day to you, sir...I SAID GOOD DAY.

Tennessee plays good football when the other team is on the 5 yrd line. The defense cannot stop the long pass plays. Im once again clapping because we tried again. Almost won.

I believe you run the ball get clock ticking then come back to pass. Even if Bray throws a td with 1minute left we give up a 80 yard drive. Should have ran

They had 2 or 3 TOs left. Running to drain clock would have been pointless. We were wearing them out in the air. There was nothing wrong with the call. Clowney just made one heck of a play.

The breaks just don't go Dooley's way.

Actually good game to watch. Both defenses were awful. But all the (flags) :nono: "oops" breaks went against us. That team in the stripes is tough, not that the SEC has an agenda or anything. But when Holtz has something to say in TN's defense about the zebras, well :dunno:. Just sayin!

Don't people blame Ainge for that final interception in the SECCG with almost identical situations? Why is the staff being blamed here?

You protect the ball by running it there. If you cant in that particular situation you cant beat good sec teams.

On the road especially, the only play is to keep your foot on the gas and play to win.

If Dooley runs the clock out and goes to OT, everyone is ripping him. Call was spot on - SC couldnt stop the offense in the 2nd half - Bray killed them, this team needed a win and that's exactly what happens if no strip by a future top 5 pick in Clowney

I didn't have an issue with the pass call. We had moving the ball well. However, I was worried for a fumble or int, that seems to happen in the last drive for a win for us (Miss St, UGA, and now USCjr).
