So many have talked about what happens if UT loses today. How about if UT wins this game in front of an ESPN audience?

What do you all think? How will it impact recruiting? Will the fire Dooley talk fade? Will this create enough positive momentum to carry the Vols through the end of the season?

I would like to know what you all think. I don't want to say it is a make or break game, but if UT wins...does it really make the season?

Maybe this win will turn everything around or at least start the program in positive direction.

Like people say on the forum all the time, winning fixes everything.

GO VOLS.

Last time I check Dooley is still our coach stop giving yourself false hope. We have a 15% chance of winning. We have a better chance of getting blown out. If he wins I still want him gone. All he would have showed is he can beat an injured USC team

We have injuries too, weak argument.

If we beat USC jr I cant wait to hear all the other excuses of what was wrong with them instead of what we finally did right. There is absolutely nothing this team can do to please the Dooley haters and its sad. As ive said before we still have a chance to finish 9-4 , beat a ranked team and finish the season on a 6 game win streak. While its still not the season I hoped for , its pretty good and it will get Dooley a fourth year, like it or not. Probably not going to happen , but if it does, congrats to the team and to Dools. By the way recruiting would benefit greatly due to a 6 game winning streak to finish the season.

Only game I've ever been involved in, as a fan, where I actually see good in winning AND in losing this game, and yes, I'm really ashamed to admit that...

It would be a small step in the right direction, and it would help our players finish the season out a little better I think!

Thought Dools only had to win 8 games this year to be safe, maybe even 7 ? That was the concesus, on this board, before we soundly beat NC St..... What changed ?

If he gets a fourth year watch how many alumns stop giving I know the North Carolina chapter said they won't donate anything to athletics if Dooley is retained after this season. Dooley hasn't beat a ranked team yet I doubt he starts Saturday away from Neyland. I also like how you have written off candy and troy both of which are ranked higher than us

To be completely upfront about it, I don't see a huge reward for UT beating South Carolina. Yes, we beat a ranked team, but I am honestly scared that winning this football game might be the impetus for us to keep Dooley for another season. I don't want to see us lose, but I just don't really see a big reward for winning this game.

Exactly man the prise will be another year with CDD. If he is back next year watch ticket sales fall. Tennessee thinks they posted a loss last year just wait to next year

I havent written off anyone. I said we have a chance (a very slim one I know) to finish 9-4. If we do finish 9-4 a lot of this hatred for Dools will ebb. If the alumni cant handle 9-4 in year 3 of a complete rebuild, with the only loses being to top 15 teams, well then they didnt learn as much as they should have while they were here.

Like you said its a slim chance they hasn't beat anyone ranked ahead of him yet I don't see anything saying he starts tomorrow. We aren't going 9-4 we will go 6-6 at best vandy is a trap game so is mizzou and troy. We very well loose 2 more games outside of saturday

Lame won 7 games with walk-on players

You mean walk-ons like Eric Berry, Dan Williams, Montario Hardesty, Jacques McClendon, Chris Scott and Jonathan Crompton. All of whom were drafted.

Not saying some local guys didn't step up in the holes that existed but lane walked in with some great leaders. Gotta show both sides bro.

The way i look at it is we should only have 1 or 2 loses if we had a coach. So if we beat USCe it want help at all these kids deserve better than what we have coaching them right now. VFL

This years team will easily have more player drafted. This team has more talent across the board. Hell Kiffin had O line men who where like 260 and still was able to run the ball better. P.S. CDD has ran off a lot of talented players.

Def want the vols to win. If you're a vols fan you can never wish for the vols to lose, no matter how much it could possibly help the program. But honestly I don't think that it will be the SC game that will seal CDD's fate, I'm sure that the decision has already been made as to his fate based on his body of work so far in his tenure.

That being said we need a win, one to beat spurrier, two to help overall recruitment, three to try to get us bowl eligible. Despite our recent struggles 9-4 is still on the table, albeit unlikely, that has to be the goal of this team and this coaching staff. GBO VFL.

Its not the goal of a vast portion of the fan base though.

Lame won 7 games with walk-on players

Lame only had walkon offensive line..he had better running backs (monterio hardesty), heisman type guy lead defense (Eric Berry) and lots of Fulmer's seasoned players. No doubt Lame is a good coach and I am not defending Dooley. But just trying to put things in perspective. So far our boys have fought and they hung in there were #2 Florida (2 bad breaks in defense else we dominated the game)..top25 Georgia (until very last drive anybody's game) and top 15 undefeated MSU (until very last drive anybody's game). Now probably a little misfortune and lil bit of Dooley's SEC immaturity else we could be easily be leading towards 9-3 or 10-2 season right now. So boys have fought hard..lets give them credit !! Look at out last years team ..we couldn't score jack !!
Again..Dooley is still immature for SEC and we hired him way too early. He needs to go and learn some good years and I hope he becomes a big coach some day but him and the boys have really worked hard so lets not down them. SEC is a beast for rebuilding teams ..in any other conference we might be still undefeated !! I mean teams we lost to have 27-1 record combined. So yes we are no BAMA , Florida, LSU yet but believe me no one else in the nation is. So give the boys credit. Say thankyou to Dooley and give him a good farewell. Tell him we will always like him for his work here and lets hope he succeeds at his new job !!
I hope Dooley becomes Cincinnati coach and makes Cincinnati the best team in The OHIO state !! Take that Meyer !!!

IMO the way I read this board, I doubt 20% of the posters actually attend any games. Not really a quorem to see # of ticket sales overall
