Well, I'll tell you guys the minute I knew we weren't getting Gruden as a coach.

It was earlier this week when SpringBokVol posted something implying a deal was done. I was so stoked. I leaned over to the guy in the cube next to me and said, "Gruden's coming to Tennessee!"

He said, "Really! How do you know?"

"An anonymous poster in a fan message forum calling himself SpringBokVol told me so."

"Really? Who is that?"

And it dawned on me. I have no idea who SpringBokVol is. Or any of these insiders on Volnation.

"no clue."

And the guy just laughed and laughed.

UT football as a national factor ended when we lost to LSU in 01 to me. Yeah, we went to a couple of SEC championship games but I didn't think we really mattered that much anymore. Gruden would make us matter again quick! People would have to sit and look alive when the name Tennessee Volunteers is spoken.

OCI is in the recruiting forum portraying that his claims were made to just fuel the fire. Just giving himself an out IMO. Pretty standard ecred grab.

I just recently had that experience and it was fresh in my mind that's why I used that example. I didn't winch or anything, just a quiet shock.

Do you base that on anything other than "we are Tennessee and we aren't good enough for someone at that level or something else"? Because there are people other than this board in the media saying that we do have a chance.

If there were two televisions, one showing a Tennessee football game and the other showing a donkey raping a midget, and someone asked me to describe what I saw, I would have an easier time explaining the midget rape.

That is why we need a new coach.

The story just doesn't add up for me, I'm sorry. It doesn't pass the smell test. You talk to most anyone who isn't a fan, and this notion that Gruden would go to Tennessee is totally out of left field. You can explain why he might and some of that makes sense, but in the end, people I talk to think he's an NFL guy.

I seriously think this board is being played bigtime. I'm not sure who it's by, but it is a grade A play by whoever is behind it.

I won't believe this until it's confirmed by a major sports media outlet.

I don't mean anything personal against anyone on this board, I'm just trying to splash cold water on your faces.
