The man won a Superbowl using NFL players and he's a broadcaster on ESPN, what's so amazing?
the report is bama makes 6x what Saban's salary is costing them off of him being there. You don't see that as a sound investment?
Because they're winning championships. Thrash appears to have some reservations because Gruden basically has no college experience. Justified, IMO
I firmly believe this deal is done pending a signature. I believe there is an understanding between both as to what is going to happen. I have seen or heard nothing that I consider reputable to change this.

and people like me aren't? I've read plenty of posts from people with sources in the 2+ Gruden threads and have made my own evals on who has info and who is simply regurgitating what others have said. Some have a history and some don't. However I don't feel the need to call any of them out (except for the ones that have trolled VN before).
Like I said earlier, enjoy the ride and take it for what it is. You'll be much happier
Here's the thing about boosters. They aren't created equal, even among the very upper levels of giving. It may come as a surprise to some, but there are loads of boosters who give $75k or $100k to the University every year who have no involvement whatsoever with issues like this, and get no "inside" info about it. There is no double-secret email list you get put on once you cross a certain threshold of giving. The people who would be involved with this issue and may have knowledge about it are a very small handful of the very top boosters, i.e., the guys who were sitting with Peyton and perhaps a few others that you could count on one hand, or certainly both hands. So when Hyams or whoever says he talked with "a pretty significant booster" it may mean something, or it may well mean nothing at all.
When you get on here with insider info you open yourself up for posters to evaluate your connections. I am certainly not calling you a liar but just trying to decide the validity of your sources. I certainly believe with what I know now that you may very well be spot on here. I won't blindly follow anyone on here. That doesn't mean I am on a witch hunt.

It's definitely not that I don't think he should be the guy.
It's just that I don't think he's so far above all the other possible candidates we could pursue to justify a 10 year contract, and possibly making him instantly the highest paid NCAA coach in the country.
Luckily, since Hammy's gone, his buyout shouldn't exceed $2M or so. Guess what Saban's buyout is...

"... we have to do it with urgency."
"Each year that those disadvantages remain on the table, you set yourselves back."
"So nobody's more upset, believe me. I just can't display it like some people can."
We will have to agree to disagree. Recruting is much more work than preparing for the draft. Then add dealing with boosters and baby sitting kids with academic issues and that more than makes up for the less time on the practice field. College if anything is more time IMO.
Warmish climate, and a QB with elite potential, ready to be coached up? Why is it a bad fit?
