A prayer for all of Vol Nation:

From fumbles and dropsies and interceptions on the gridiron and Dooley in Orange tonight, good Lord preserve us.

Caller on Ainge said Gruden is not coming.
His source?
He had a dream.

I would say this works in our favor. We all know how the dreams of people on here turnout. Let's see, there has been threads of those dreaming of beating every team that we have gotten beat by so far. Keep dreaming.

Morning fellow Grudes...I see everyone is back to business as usual...defending the fort.

I'll be here throughout the day to add useless banter as expected. Have I missed anything?

Well, the other way to look at it is, even if ALL the past rumors were true, they all fell through at the end.

So this one could too. So, making a ban bet with yourself is just ridiculous.

What, aside from Lovie are you referencing? And I'm not the one that made a ban bet. I wouldn't....I don't care about anyone's opinion that much.

Rucker is no fountain of knowledge.

He was still denying Pearl decision was made literally when news broke of Pearl being out then tweeted a "Now that it is out there" line about Pearl's firing implying he knew all along. Nothing against the guy, but I cant recall big news he has ever broken

I'm in the believe camp because the AD has said squat. If DD had any thread left of tenure they'd be squashing this like a plague carrying flea. My bigger question is when we get him if it's a 10 year bank buster of a deal are we gonna ever achieve or even come close to people's expectations of a deal and a name like his? You tell me 7-10 years and 5 million per and I immediately believe that ought to buy us 2 NC's and 3-4 Sec appearances.

To be honest, I don't think we should pay that much for a coach. Not even a Super Bowl winning coach. It's ridiculous. We're going to spend at least $1M/yr over what Bama is paying Saban, for a guy who has never really coached in college?

I want Gruden. Bad. But for that kind of money and length of contract, I'd rather look for a proven big name college guy, and pay him a little less than Saban's contract.

But hey, if it's not the University's money, I'll take Gruden.

Rucker is a bottom feeder...its his job to imply he knows things he doesnt.

FWIW, I'm just trying really hard to convince myself it's all BS, because I don't want to be let down for the umpteenth time.

Shannon, Lovie, Gruden part 1, etc. Eventually, you just get to where you don't believe anything.

the report is bama makes 6x what Saban's salary is costing them off of him being there. You don't see that as a sound investment?

I like him, but I know he isnt going to be a news breaker type of guy. He is immature with handling of critics but I have nothing against him or any media types, just stating (agreement with you) that him downplaying Gruden means nothing. I dont think he would know anything about it and history supports that. Guys on here (many are same guys saying Gruden is done) were giving specifics on Pearl ouster days before it was official and Rucker was denying that too.

So when Gruden is the coach of the Carolina Panters next year who would you all like to see as our HC out of this list?

Gary Patterson
Charlie Strong
Dana Holgerson
Dan Mullen
Tommy Tubberville
Pat Fitgerald
Chad Morris
Kirby Smart

Good list there.

Here is a better list:

Because they're winning championships. Thrash appears to have some reservations because Gruden basically has no college experience. Justified, IMO

I just did. And honestly....I'm not here to convince anyone.

The fact is several on here....DTO, JayVols, OldVol specifically, know where my source came from. I also know theirs. Our information has lined up on this for two weeks....even as it changes.

Believe it or not....discount me it don't. I don't care. I am nobody, and have zero influence. But there are those on here that know what I've said on this to be accurate.

When you get on here with insider info you open yourself up for posters to evaluate your connections. I am certainly not calling you a liar but just trying to decide the validity of your sources. I certainly believe with what I know now that you may very well be spot on here. I won't blindly follow anyone on here. That doesn't mean I am on a witch hunt.

I firmly believe this deal is done pending a signature. I believe there is an understanding between both as to what is going to happen. I have seen or heard nothing that I consider reputable to change this.

But Saban is a proven commodity. I'm not saying Gruden doesn't have a high probability of success, but we don't know anything about his college coaching ability.

I do believe he would be very successful, but in our current circumstances, can we afford to make that kind of commitment again?

On the flip side, you could say, can we afford not to spend the big $$$ for a "home run," and I wouldn't necessarily disagree with that, either. I'm glad it's not my decision to make. I would have one of those myocardial infarctions you guys keep going on about.

I know. OCI is a joke.

But you said something to the effect that I had been wrong multiple times. I rarely get involved in this stuff. I did with Lovie because I got some info. Same here.

If I've been inaccurate on something else I'd love to know.
