Everyone saying Hubbs wouldn's say anything is right.

He wouldn't say anything CONCRETE, but he if you reread his statement he gives some pretty definative statements about the current situation.

He states he believes nothing will be decided/done before the end of the season. The athletic dept wouldn't make him say that.

He states that Gruden is listening to TN, but he is also exploring NFL options.

He states that TN will be looking to pay top dollar for a coach if in the job market.

HE says a lot of concrete things. So if he knew that Dooley was already "fired" and Gruden "agreed" to coach then I think he would say something more concrete towards that.

That statement gives credibility they have been asked about it.

But, it also shows no one so far is willing to do it. After the USCjr game, perhaps someone gets ready to do so. However, this makes me feel nothing has happened with Gruden except some calls to see if interested. TIFWIW

But, I had this convo with someone who does know a booster very well.

So, I think the buyout is a thing holding it up. I agree it should not be. Also, one booster may not know exactly how all other boosters are feeling.

Here's the thing about boosters. They aren't created equal, even among the very upper levels of giving. It may come as a surprise to some, but there are loads of boosters who give $75k or $100k to the University every year who have no involvement whatsoever with issues like this, and get no "inside" info about it. There is no double-secret email list you get put on once you cross a certain threshold of giving. The people who would be involved with this issue and may have knowledge about it are a very small handful of the very top boosters, i.e., the guys who were sitting with Peyton and perhaps a few others that you could count on one hand, or certainly both hands. So when Hyams or whoever says he talked with "a pretty significant booster" it may mean something, or it may well mean nothing at all.

Yeah.. hes better suited for the NFL as evidenced, but Im gonna say hes all about family right now. jmo and btw by this threads standard Im a nega-grude.

We've been through all this before.

EVERY single time, the rumors are wrong. Every. Single. Time.

And yet, somehow, the same posters maintain enough "e-cred" to convince us all the next time something like this happens.

I'm trying hard to remain pessimistic about Gruden and convince myself of all the upside if Dooley is fired and we don't get Gruden. It sounds like Hart will get a "home run hire," whether it's Gruden or not.

I'm confident I didn't leave after the Lovie situation, and I don't see anything in the horizon that would put my nearly 7 years here in queston.

I'm equally confident that you have an unhealthy obsession with me personally.

Go and look at the college record of these "failures" and then look at our current coach's record. I would take one of those losers in a heartbeat.

I agree, they act like UT is a new FBS school or something. UT is one of the top 10 Football schools of all time and UT getting a big time coach is not that far fetched of a possibly IMO. I hope they get Gruden and shut everybody up for a while.

And I really haven't said much, except the AD has had full plans to have DD and staff on next year, but it's a mess right now up there. Money equals power and influence. To the extent right now, I just don't know.

If Gruden is the next coach, I can't wait, and him being coach would be the only reason something would happen soon.

I'm about 2 pages behind, but I want to put my 2 cents in this while I have the time. All the talk about the media being so credible is odd to me when Hart/Dooley wouldn't even let them in practice. They may have boosters they know, but for the most part, they know they have to say something so they're trying to go with the odds. That being that he's not coming. If he ends up here, they all say 'well I couldn't report anything on the air/print'.

So, it all boils down to who you want to believe. Posters with connections that have no dog in this fight other than wanting UT to win, or Media, that's trying to protect their rep. And yes, IF Hart gave out any info, I'm sure he'd want it to stay quiet.

He is referencing the Lovie Smith ordeal. My buddy, who is my source on this indicated that Lovie was the guy, and had been on campus. He still stands by it.

Turns out the deal did not happen.

Orange Blazer is enamored enough with me to have searched back several years to find that info. He loves me.

I am not a negagrude. I really hope they get him. Wednesday, I told my six year old we might be getting a Super Bowl coach and CDD is gone.

Then, at a business breakfast, I had the convo I refered to. That is not saying he is not coming or has not been contacted. The AD may be keeping it and telling boosters to keep it quiet. The only thing is at the time, no one had said they were willing to write the check. But, that does show perhaps they were asked who would be willing to write it. Alot is going on in a fluid situation.

I hope JG is the next coach.
