Best Wins in Dooley Era

Calm down, the guy is frustrated. We all are.

Cut the guy some slack. If you can't vent about UT football on a UT message board, where can you?

I don't know....maybe any of the other 1000 threads on this topic. I've lost faith too, but this is getting old.

They're all getting old; ones like this one, ones the compare Dooley to Spurrier at SC, Saban at Michigan St., only Dooley was brave enough to take the job, Gruden is coming, and so on and so on.

OMG!! out of 14 wins 10 are CUPCAKE wins??? un-freaking-believable!! NOT acceptable by ANY standards..if it was any other coach at another school with that record, they would have been fired LAST YR!!! WHAT is UT thinking?????

For those bashing the op, here is a guy this is news to. Its refreshing to see someone get some use out of these type of threads.

I made a thread about this a few weeks ago. How many others have there been?

Ole Miss should be 5th on this list; they went 4-8 in 2010. I'd put Vandy 2011 at 3 and Kentucky 2010 at 4; at least both of those teams went to bowls.

I find it hard to believe people still want to spew this stuff and NOT mention the other side of the coin.... Nobody wants to admit how bad our program was when Dooley walked in. You don't just walk in and beat teams in the SEC with a roster of 65 scholly players and 2 void recruiting classes.

I think we are seeing that Dooley probably isn't the long term answer, but he has taken a job NOBODY wanted and has established a decent roster with some flashes of talent. There are NO moral victories, a loss is a loss. But if you can't see signs of improvement you are blind.

Well I guess I'm blind because TN has lost 4 games by an average of 16 points and has about the 90th best defense in college football:matrix:

I find it unbelievable that there are people who still defend Dooley. He is 4-16 in SEC play and getting out-scored 600-379 in that stretch. Here are the top 6 wins of the Dooley Era:

NC State 35-21
Cincinnati 45-23
Vanderbilt 27-21 (OT)
Vanderbilt 24-10
Ole Miss 52-14
Kentucky 24-14

The fact that beating Vandy twice (one being in OT at home), Ole Miss, and Kentucky are considered "top wins" is a joke. After those 6 wins take a look at the only other wins in the Dooley Era:

GA State 51-13
Akron 47-26
Montana 42-16
Buffalo 41-10
MTSU 24-0
UT Martin 50-0
UAB 32-29 (OT)
Memphis 50-14

Dooley is in over his head. Flame away if you wish but the facts are hard to argue. Don't get me wrong, I will still be wearing Orange on Saturday and cheering on the Vols but a win on Saturday will not change my opinion. It's time for Dooley to go!

Thanks for this post. Shows not only how inept Dooley's tenure has been, but also how pathetic the out of conference schedule has become. And to think, UT pays these schools the big bucks to come play a 1 and done in Neyland Stadium. Time to beef this schedule, and the team realizes it's time to saddle up every week or switch to flag football for their favorite fraternity. Playing wimps proves what? Not a damn thing!

Consider threads like this a sort of "taking stock" or "surveying the damage" as one might do after a tornado has devastated a town. Now that the storm seems to be nearing its end, folks like the OP are simply recounting the extent of the damage, measuring the havoc wrought, & the ruination that took place.

It sucks. Seems like our peak years we didn't play 5 or 6 ranked teams a year like we do now that we are trying to rebuild. Even the great CLK was 0-4 against ranked teams his year here. Damn Reggie Bush & Mike Hamilton's contracts, i'd like to of seen what Kiffin and crew could of done the past 3 years.

Kiffin won more SEC games in 1 season than Dooley has won into his 3rd

I guess you are, if you don't think this team has improved since Dooley took the job. Does the Defense suck, yes... Have we lost 4 games, yes.(to pretty darn good teams that 27 of 28 other teams have lost to)
I said in my post, we are seeing that Dooley isn't the answer, but he has turned UT into a job someone might consider when they wouldn't 2 1/2 years ago...

People post this stuff like he had a great roster and just couldn't compete with people, and that just isn't the case.

Incorrect, SC was #22 when we played.
