Official Jon Gruden Thread III

Just wondering if he is out there in a position to be asked. Is he taking phone calls from media?

I have no clue about this. I would assume he has to talk to someone, but who knows. The info that comes from the AD is not just made up, so he is talking to someone.

I honestly believe that may the best thing I have ever seen on here....

Just relax everyone. Ask yourselves this, is the AD denying any of the Gruden talk? It's all over local and national media. Is the AD denying Dooley being fired? All over the media too.

I'm not backing away one inch from my statements. Boro, Jay, OV aren't either. The fact is, there is nothing left to say.

This is what I'm saying.

An article in USA Today and not one peep from the AD or Gruden....3 days before a big SEC game.....and not one member of the Knoxville media is asking direct questions about it?

And we are the crazy ones for believing that something is happening.

Ok.

At the risk of just adding another month to everyone's fantasy, that makes sense, because I doubt the NCAA would be excited about a college coach hosting MNF every week. I don't know for sure that it's against NCAA rules, but it seems like it would be.

Whether or not an announcement on CDD comes next week, things are going to get progressively crazier.

They don't mind ESPN splattering reality tv on team "X" in basketball or football, I doubt they would mind unless he is recruiting players during his breakdown of Drew Brees passing motion.

I am still 100% behind youDTO, Boro, OV,bcartervols,Oci, Jayvols, etc while I am waiting for this timeline to come full circle. Be patient folks!! Just wait a week or two and all will be known!!! PATIENCE!

I think people need to realize there is not new news every 15 minutes. At this point it is entirely possible to have all the news we are going to have till after the SC game with a loss, and possible after Kentucky should we somehow get lucky and beat SC.

"I was on here an hour ago and saw he is coming, but now I am depressed because no new news in the last hour and he is now not coming" said no sane person......EVER.

He doesn't have to. As someone else pointed out, it's not like he has a regular press conference that puts him in front of media members who will ask him about it.

Maybe, but this has been blowing up on twitter since yesterday and several news outlets have been on it. USA Today had an article about it.

While he is always linked to jobs and he rarely comments on it, this isn't an ordinary situation. It has been reported that he has ACCEPTED a position at a major program.

Valid or not, that type of rampant speculation is not usually allowed to go on for this long without a response.

Excellent point. Specifically in regards to Dooley being gone. I have to imagine Hart would not let this distraction go on if Dooley still had a chance to save his job. He's pretty ruthless if he would.

Gruden is on various shows at ESPN all the time. If he wanted to address this, they could set it up so he is asked about it, he addresses it, and it is over (sort of-see Nick Saban and Alabama). It very well could be that he tells his colleagues at ESPN NOT to ask him about it.

I think the silence from the UT side of this is what is most interesting. It makes one thing very clear: Derek Dooley's days as the football coach at Tennessee are surely numbered.

I don't worry about on the hour news, what makes me worry is other posters who are also "credible" are saying the exact opposite.

Reported?
By a VolNation.com moderator?

Replace "reported" with "rumored."

Right, I have kind of became ehh of the whole thing but someone has had to of ask him about it by now and if it wasnt true, he wouldnt care if it got out. no?

Well. If he denied it and has accepted, wouldn't that make him look like a liar. It's better for all if everything is correct to say nothing.

If he denies, and then takes the job, it looks bad. And ESPN is not going to ask any questions.
