But guys . . . he's coaching for his job this weekend! ::buys season tickets for next year::
::sees improvement in 30+ point losses::

My question is if that is the case why wait until after this game to announce it?

He probably's been told that what he's done this season isn't cutting it and he's on his last thread.

Just can't see a AD telling a Coach he is canned but then says, but don't say anything to the media and go out and act like everything is fine and coach while I work on your replacement.

Do people not realize how dumb that sounds?

It sounds obscenely stupid, but that is how the "politics" of the game works. Many a time before a coach has been told to straight-face it in interviews even though he was on the way out or deny something they know to be true. One cannot say something until certain people give the thumbs up. In a sane world it doesn't make sense, but the world of sports-- if you havent already noticed-- is far from sane.

I can except that for sure but why risk our own health by getting on the sidelines if you already knew you were getting fired?

That tells me he hasn't been told before the game.

You are entitled to your opinion. Not my job to convince you. I'm not.speculating however.

To answer your question....he's coaching for another job at this point. Competing with Bama, or beating USCjr would be a (weak) resume builder.

I think people are just saying Dooley will be fired on Monday solely because they believe we will lose to South Carolina.

I don't think he gets fired if he wins. Ultimately he won't be the coach next year, I think that's clear to everyone. But if he keeps winning this year there is no reason to throw an interim out there. Gruden isn't going to come in mid-season and I hope everyone realizes that.

Who knows if Gruden is official or not, but you won't "officially" hear about it until Dooley is gone for one reason...Knoxville sports media that reports on the Vols won't give out information regarding Dooley being fired or Gruden being hired because they need the AD to be happy with them so they can stay in whatever loop they think they are in.

Go Vols

So getting killed by USC will speed up the process?
I don't see them allowing him to gain any more steam with the remaining schedule but like I said if you have Gru in the bag it doesn't matter when you fire him.

I think it's borderline puss to call Ainge a drug Addict (present tense) from behind your keyboard just to discredit anything he says. He did have issues with drugs, but who put you on your high horse? You ever smoke cigarettes, drink beer, eat to much bad food? Those are all harmful addictions as well.

He'll, if we are making judgements on ppl, I'd say you wouldn't dare make fun if him to his face or anybody else without the Internet to protect you.

My point, the guy fought back to shed a terrible addiction, confessed his problems to the world, and is doing well now. Try to use credible statements instead of just throwing in live grenades to get a response...

For the record, his own idiotic, borderline childish words he spoke before the Alabama game is what I use to discredit him. Anybody that goes on a broadcast and calls for a FELLOW QUARTERBACK to get injured shows a clear lack of something. And that lack of something I'm sure is what led him to become an addict in the first place.

If you make dumb statements like that to the public then you OWN getting criticized.

I know a few radio hosts that called him on it. But the funny thing is most media guys didn't even address the comment, including the university, which tells me that this guy is considered wholly irrelevant.

Not only this, but he also has lost the team. Couple that with his crap with unc, end of last year, and his recent head butting with Hart has sealed his fate.

Makes sense. I do think that a win against USC this weekend has dropped drastically in value from where it would have been when they were in the top 5. Now, its just a win against a mid-tier S.E.C school.

And no, I don't think we'll win.

Before the public blowup in the AD this week they, and by they I mean Hart, wanted to give Dooley the opportunity to go out on his terms. They were going to let him decide how it would go depending on what he felt was best for him.

When he got into the shouting match with Hart, he messed in his lunchbox.

This is what I have been told. TIFWIW....or don't.

Good post.

My position remains firm.

Is this like the Lovie Smith hire?

If I remember right the Lovie Smith information didn't come from Vol Nation or any of the insiders here. It was all from Tony B. Yes they did whiff on Shannon, but that has been explain. If they whiff this time a ban bet is up (for OCI at least).

I don't know Boro, but I believe what he is posting about DD's status and the potential timeline, because it makes sense.

DD's departure might be after SC or it might not. It depends more on whether DD will get reasonable and knock some $$$ off the buyout. My take is that UT is not going to be able to negotiate this down a bunch, so if DD will agree to around $4 million, this should get done sooner rather than later.

That would be logic, however. Now that Hart and DD are in a p!ssing match, and emotions are involved, who knows? The lawyers for both sides need to get their clients to simmer down, take the emotions out of this, and make a smart business decision that allows everybody to move on as gracefully as possible.

The information on RS, Lovie, and any other rumor before this was nowhere near as consistent with the information as the Gruden info has been.

You guys have me sold. I'm going streaking.
