Among these rumors, it is stated that Dooley has been told he's done. So, it isn't behind his back; it just isn't public. The problem with the Tubberville/Petrino situation is that it was behind Tubberville's back. I guess people just want the man to be told when he's headed to the gallows.

I guess we'll find out in a few days...or a few weeks, or months, or whatever.

Ainge just saying he had a convo with Gruden while he was QB for the Jets. Said all he wanted to talk about was UT.....not the upcoming Jets game. Said he was a big fan of UT. I liked the sound of that.

If this is a done deal, Gruden's probably assembling the all-star coaching staff - hence the silence. The money guys probably jointly agreed that if they were forking over the money for him, Gruden would need to bring in whatever staff it took to actually get the job done. No point emptying the bank for a top coach but second or third tier staff. If the money's coming do it right. A set staff would make a bigger splash in the media and with recruits as well as tamp down any other possible coaching changes out there that may come soon as well. No point in setting yourself up for being surpassed by another school in the event of their coaching changes as well - Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia, etc.

Yeah, but what would you talk to Ainge about? He was the emergency QB and never got on the field.

This may have already been posted here, but I just found it in Freaks latest blog. was a quote from Jummy Hymns on sports talk ????

“I do believe that Jon Gruden has talked to some coaches in an effort to put together his staff. The question is: is he doing that for the collegiate level or the NFL level? But I do believe that he has talked to some coaches with the intent to put together a staff to get back into coaching, in spite what he is making at Monday Night Football.”

I think what we are looking for is Dooley to be fired Monday or Tuesday like the rumors are suggesting. That is first half of the rumor we have heard, but it doesn't guarantee a Gruden hire.

I do not know how to feel about this rumor or so-called breaking insider news. It is kind of hard believe something that is coming from the vacuum that is Vol Nation with it's track record (about 50/50 I would give it). Still at times yesterday and even this morning I felt 100% about only to get more rational as the day went on.

So back to next week. We need to that first piece of the puzzle to fall into place and that is Dooley being fired. So that is why next week could be a big deal.

I have full confidence that Randy Shannon will be U.T.'s
next defensive co ordinator.
I have a neighbor whose sister lives in Miami and she heard on the radio in Miami that Randy Shannon will be the next defensive co ordinator at U.T.
I am as sure as sure can be that it is true.....

Reading between the lines. My theory . . . which has no source whatsoever . . . somebody had a back channel conversation with Gruden where he indicated that he'd be open to taking the job if it became available and people have run with it from there. I don't think there's a timetable.

That. Plus some have reported on here (I have no personal info on this) that because of Hammy, no reputable coaches were even interested in this hire.

If DD has been told he is done then this is no different than us talking to Dooley while he was employed by LaTech.

If true, Hart is a poor manager. When you fire someone you show them the door that day.

Out of all of these rumors this one is by far the most BS.

If you go back and look, several posters that know people heard things about the same time. I posted 99.99% when I heard what I did, several others drastically ramped up their percentages, then a few minutes later SBV posted what he did. My phone at work, and especially my bosses phone, blew up about the same time and for the rest of the afternoon. Whatever came out came out all at once, and from several different directions. Something happened to make this chain of events to occur, not trolling or anything of the sort.

We live in an instant gratification age, like it or not, and with the amount of anonymity afforded by such a forum as VN, there is no accountability to be had for those willing to share as long as they do not filet their friends. There is also no accountability for making things up, however for this to be a rouse it would be elaborate to the point of hilarity, not even possible imo.
