Kiffin was 5-15 at Oakland.

Gruden was 38-26 at Oakland, plus a Super Bowl ring from Tampa Bay on Tony Dungy coat tails. DWI

He was also 57 - 55 with Tampa Bay, above .500 and better than Dooley. The vols will be at least a .500 program with Gruden.

The Grudenites have work to do on that Wikipedia entry--it doesn't even mention the Tennessee speculation, and only makes a passing reference to his history here.

When is the last time Gruden coached? How about coached college? Recruited? Don't get the Gruden slurp fest. SMH

Personally, Gruden would be a fantastic recruiter. That's basically what he's been doing for the last several years with quarterbacks. If you guys wanna keep CDD so bad, that's your opinion. But I think he needs to go and we need excitement in the program. We are definitely due for some.

None. It would be a disaster anyways. Gruden is a NFL guy, pure and simple. Even if he came to UT, he would jump ship after 2 years or so once he had a little success and a NFL job came open. Can't believe our dumb fanbase can't see this.

Not really a Gruden guy but this argument makes no sense. If he chooses to coach college instead of pro it will be strickly by his choice. There will be plenty of pro jobs available too if he wants them instead.

Kiffin chose to come here too. It just wouldn't be a destination job for him. This is pointless, though. He's not coming.

i really cant beleive that half of this fan base actually thinks Gruden will EVER be our coach. Im sure everyone else gets a good chuckle about us thinking it will come true.

We all hate Kiffin for what he did, but there's no doubt that he brought excitement to the program the one year that he was here and had us competing in every game except for Ole Miss. Gruden coming here would finally erase the pain he left behind because Gruden would bring great excitement and he would be able to recruit like crazy. I don't think we would have to worry about him bolting ships either because in a way, he's a Tennessee guy.

So 7 - 6 made you happy? Inviting the NCAA to come investigate by constantly breaking rules? Yeah that was real exciting!

In my opinion the chances of UT getting Gruden are about 20%. Gruden is a good coach, (not great) let's be honest he won a super bowl with Tony Dungy's players. Granted he still won a super bowl, but it's not like he built the team through years of work.

He won a Super Bowl with Tony Dungy's players? Hold up...you do realize this isn't college, right? Dungy didn't recruit those players and he got fired. The very next year Gruden won the Super Bowl. Give credit where credit is due.

It is also quite remarkable to see everyone so excited about the possibility of a new cheerleading coach. Her husband could get her some good publicity, but that's about it.

Raiders went to Super Bowl after Gruden left.

I know it's not college and Dungy didn't recruit those players, however he did draft a lot of those players. Gruden went 57-55 in 7 seasons and made the playoffs 3 times. Dungy got fired after he took that team to the playoffs 3 years in a row and finished 52-42 in 6 seasons.

I give credit to Gruden for winning the SB when Dungy couldn't but it's not like Gruden walked into a crappy team. He walked into a playoff caliber team at a time when the NFC wasn't nearly as good a conference as the AFC. Like I said Gruden is a good coach but not a great one in my opinion.
