Dooley will not be the coach next season.

rich, fatcat boosters make the big decisions in the athletic dept. like coaching changes --- hart is just their gofer waiting for the word

I'm very surprised at how much respect this post is getting. This "decision that has been made" would be an ignorant one at this point (when Dooley still has the chance to go 8-4, 9-4 with a bowl win).

If Dooley goes 9-4 and still gets fired, what would that do to the coaching search? ANY coach in the country would say "You want me to take this job when you fired a guy who went 9-4 in the best conference in football, in the 3rd year of his rebuilding season? And the tipping point was after a loss to the best team in the country?"

Hopefully Hart isn't that stupid. I don't think he would be where he is if he was.

The "decision is made" MAYBE after Dooley can go 7-5 or 6-6 at best.

Stupid thread is stupid.

So in 6 days after we're licking our wounds from a fourth consecutive loss, you'll be okay with this thread?

Keep drinking the Kool Aid..... If you think Dooley can win, you are crazy. Look at the product on the field, has it improved??? NO! Its time to pull the plug and get a big name coach in here who can win immediately before UT Football dies. Wake up man!

Is that what I said? I thought I said making the decision when he still has the opportunity is stupid.

Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Tressel can't coach for along time...Besides he would have us on probation in no time.
No he wouldn't. He ran a pretty clean program outside of this one mistake. The kids sold some of their memorabilia...big freakin whoop. Petrino's violations are much more severe in, IMHO. Tressel's is a whole lot to do about nothing. Sure he's learned enough from it, not to want to repeat it again. Petrino...is just a scumbag. No rehabilitation or penalty can fix that.

Show cause. Show cause. Tressel isn't coming and won't be at any major program any time soon.

Not crazy about Tressel the guy couldn't beat the SEC with top tier talent at Buckeye U. I would really like to see Strong or Gruden personally.
Bama lost to LSU, then turned around and beat them in the NC game. So losing to an SEC team means Saban can't coach? He's lost to plenty of SEC teams since he's been here. Guess he's no good, huh?

The penalty is VERY light...haven't you read? Only 5 games he has to sit out, and if the team goes to a bowl game, he'd have to sit that out. That's it. Pretty sure the program can also petition the NCAA to reduce or waive those, since it's been a year removed. If we whiff on all the coaches ahead of him, I'd take him over a HC from a small program or Kirby Smart.

I want them all gone, except Graham. If I was going to keep any of them, then it would be 1) Graham; 2) Hinshaw; 3) Sunseri.

I think Sunseri can be a good DC when he gets the players he is looking for. It's hard to convert to a 3-4 when you are thin at the LB position.

I think the players are no longer responding to Dooley but I felt like Chaney should have been #2 to go last year after Hiestand. I was blown away that Dooley kept him after we went game-after-game-after-game without scoring in the second half. I believe Dooley sealed his fate in the off-season when he did not fire Chaney.

Even this year, if you look at "the game" that began the landslide, you see that our offense shutdown in the second half of the Florida game. We have not recovered since.

Defense is bad, offense is pathetic.
I agree about Graham only. I think a new coach will want to have guys he knows and can trust, so I think Graham might be the only legit keeper.

Should probably keep Pittman IMO as well. I know that's a very experienced line but they are playing good under him if there is one thing we are still good at.

So u have been to the future and saw that we will lose to usce? If u can make assumptions, I can too.. What happens when we beat the cocks, and win out the rest of the year?

That's why u have to let the season play out..

The only difference is that my assumptions have empirical, statistical, and common sense facts backing them.

Um. Ok?

I just think it's stupid for people to say "we can go 9-4 still!" as a preface to an argument. Yes, it is mathematically possible, but it's not going to happen.

Alabama can also go 7-5.

We've already played the toughest half of the season.. Bama was the first game that we just got whipped.. Like everyone else that plays them..

There's still one more game left in October. Then the cupcakes begin and everyone can feel happy again about beating Troy and Kentucky...hopefully...

About? I don't need to list all the stats that point to a clear Vols loss at SC. I feel like I'm talking to a wall.

I feel like I'm talking to someone that accepts defeat before the game is over... Typical around these parts.
