Dooley will not be the coach next season.

No, its a pipe dream.
Huge reality check will hit when he declines.
Posters will pass blame.
We are looking at a Kirby Smart type hire.

Would be dumb to pay Dooley's buyout then hire some one of the same caliber. People with money typically don't make stupid financial decisions.

it was tweeted by wes rucker

This is what Wes Rucker said : "We've officially reached that seemingly annual point of Tennessee's football season where everyone has sources and rumors". He in no way was comfirming anything. I think he was saying it is time for the BS to begin.

Not sure what he's making now but it would take around 5.

Don't know if it's true, but someone stated a booster had contacted Gruden when the Kiffin opening happened. Gruden WAS interested, but was asking 5.5 million per year and the donor hung up the phone. I would imagine Gruden would be looking to be the highest paid coach in college. TOS is saying an alum has commited to paying the full Dooley buyout & all assistant buyouts if Hart is ready to make a move. This should be rolling by this time next week.

This is very close to what I heard.

Put up the big money or stay the course. A big hire could make rapid improvement with what we have and on the recruiting front.

It is time for head coach money to match our stadium and facilities.

I was thinking about something else today. UT always has the highest recruiting budget/spent in the SEC each year at around 1.4-1.6 million. This number is higher because UT has to recruit nationally more so than other schools. UT spends twice as much as UGA or UF. We spend almost 1 million more than LSU. IF, IF a coach like Gruden was hired, would it not be possible that the boost recruiting would get from hiring a guy like Gruden would allow us to shave 200-400 grand or more off that recruiting budget? If the coach were to come in and start winning right away, it could be cut even further. It's alot easier to get kids to pick UT and stick with UT when a winner is calling the shots.

Gruden is a monster. He doesn't take any **** from the players. You WILL perform or you sit. He would also do wonders for recruiting.

Will TN pay 5-6 mil to get gruden and what is a realistic top 5 coaching candidates TN is highly considering rt now

I doubt anyone knows the actual list of possible coaches. Most would hope they would be the same names listed on here 1200 times over the last 3 years.

Peterson
Patterson
Gruden
Strong
Petrino
Smart
Whittingham

If and If it happens, the new coach should be open to keep some of the assistants. Not all but some..

I can't say I agree with that. A head coach will have alot on him taking this job. If I were doing so, I would not have anyone working for me who I did not know personally and or had not worked with in the past. IF we hire a 4-5 million dollar guy, he is going to want his own staff top to bottom. If they fail, it would then be on him.
