Dooley will not be the coach next season.

Zas is pretty solid, he gets heat for the Shannon thing that fell apart after he posted it. As far as this goes. I now think its true because I just heard it from someone I trust more than Zas and if you read my posts I have been saying I didnt think it would happen.

Did your source give any names of who we are pursuing to replace Dooley?

If Kirby Smart is brought in and he retains the defensive staff I will burn every mattress on my street. I am so frustrated. I like Dooley as a person but I think his future in college athletics is on the administrative side.

We need to go as far away from the Saban tree as possible. I hope that Dave Hart can see that. People who learned from Saban can't beat him, and I see no reason to think that Kirby Smart might change that.

Muschamp might have a shot, eventually, but only because he can actually load up on players that are equal or more talented than Saban's recruits.

Before first snap.

That's a 50/50 ratio of answers.

But we were favored going into the FL game.

After the NC St game...many thought we would beat FL (because they are down. rolling my eyes), give GA a helluva fight (which we did), and beat MsSt (which we did not).

Now, no one is absolutely positive that we will beat anyone left on our schedule...

Volmandu... I agree with you 100%. The time has come for Dooley to step down, and he can step down with pride... having brought integrity back to our program. Vol fans owe him a great debt of thanks, but it is now time to move on with a head coach who can compete with the rest of the SEC in recruiting and in coaching ability. Thanks Coach Dooley, I wish you the very best, except when you play against the VOLS, of
course.

Best of luck coach Dooley, but I will never thank you for jacking up this program. Glad you are leaving. Wish it was last year.

:cray: I'm so sad of failing, for our fans, players and coaches.

Zas's info is generally solid - lay off him. Regardless who wouldn't operate under the assumption that Dooley won't be back next year. Given the staggering mountain of evidence what other conclusion can you come to?

As for how the process will play out, take a look at the Mike Hamilton way ..... and forget everything you think you know. Hart will have a successor locked up before Dooley is even shown the door.

For those obsessing over Kirby Smart, relax. While Kirby may be a good coach for someone, it won't be at Tennessee. Hart views this situation with 'urgency' (his words). That doesn't call for taking a risk on an assistant regardless of how good he is. Rather, he has to maximize his chances for success. And he does that by hiring a proven, established head coach and preferable one with a marquis name. When you have but one shot, you shoot for everything.

The only way money factors into this process is the amount of lost revenue that the AD will have if he doesn't act. Buyout is not an issue, nor is salary. Football is the engine for the entire AD. Hart has said as much repeatedly. When that's the case, you hire the best person you can to run it, regardless of cost.

You're too smart for this board, sir.

Agreed. Dooley is a great guy but a poor coach who Hamilton hired. Most of the blame should be on him.

Fact is there were two big names that gave $ amount it would take to get them here and the boosters weren't willing. There was one semi big name that wasn't willing to keep Kiffins staff. Dooley was the first person to agree to keep the staff and the $ offered. Think of the AD as the spokesman for the boosters.

I hold no anger for Dooley. Feel kind of bad for him actually. He just wasn't cut out for it.

Mike Hamilton, however, is the worst thing to ever happen to Tennessee football. That guy did so much to set us back. I'm sad that we couldn't tar and feather him and ride him out on a rail, old fashioned style.

Seeing Peyton sitting between the Haslams at the game last night was comforting on so many levels.

I would give anything to hear what their discussion was like during the game and after.

Names of those probable coaching candidates please.

No doubt!

1-11 in sec play
0- forever against ranked team
Constantly choking in big games
Losing to Kentucky

Yeah, he jacked up the program.

Wrong, the one thing he didn't do was win, that is not jacking up the program. Since you were trying to show examples, let me help you.

- Getting your program into NCAA trouble
- Coaching one year at a school and then leaving for your "dream" job
- Getting fired for having an affair with someone in the AD
- Letting your talent level deplete so low that the next coach is starting walk-ons
- Fondling kids on campus
- Knowing one of your asst coaches did this and not reacting promptly

Just a few.
