Very few coaches are going to show interest with so many games left in the season. I would be worried about a currently employed coach who did. No respectable coach would leave his current team so high and dry in mid-season.
If there is a deal in place by October 29, it would have to be with a currently unemployed coach, which would mean Lou Holtz, Bobby Petrino, Jon Gruden or somebody like that.
If it is anybody but Gruden, then the AD needs to have his head examined. He would be much better served to get close to the end of the season and then put out feelers.
Dooley is now gone !! Multiple sources including within AD have confirmed this. It won't be officially announced until Oct. 29 or new coach deal falls in place.
Dooley isn't a bad coach. He just wasn't ready for SEC monster. He ran the program with integrity and gave it his best. He just wasn't experienced enough to build and compete against the likes of Saban, Spurrier, Ritch, Meyer (previously) , Petrino etc;
Most coaches in the country won't be either. I will always support Dooley for getting us out of the ugly mess and taking us to a place where we have rebuilt to some extent with Talent. A SEC caliber coach would have won Georgia and MSU atleast. So lets not spread hatred for the man. Lets give him a good thank you and say bye. He tried what he could and I believe with 5-10 years of Big10 or ACC experience behind him he will be a good SEC type coach. He will do good in those places right now. Go DOOLEY..Beat MEYER in BIG 10.
Not as bad as Strong.
Barely beating a bunch of 1-6 teams when Petrino had Louisville blowing teams out of the water.
