I like that. Question though: Do you think that candidates would reach out if it were known the job were going to be open, or does the backchannel stuff happen anyway?
I think there is an unspoken rule that most (insert Petrino as a possible exception here) coaches follow, and that they would not officially talk until Dooley was notified that he wouldn't be retained. Just a guess.
Should probably add the caveat that no decision has been made because it is still possible to run the table and a bowl game and finish 9-4.
I'm not endorsing that as a prediction, I'm stating that no decision will be made until much later in the season than this.
Actually, you can die from hip fractures via marrow poisoning. Ever hear of old people fracturing their hip and soon after their dead? The reason is often due to marrow poisoning. The reason his doctors called him in for emergency surgery instead of allowing him to put it off is because any fracture to the hip runs that risk -- it's where most of our marrow is stored. The surgery isn't risky but the injury is and being on that sideline was a bigger risk than people realize.

Respect for one another in the coaching carousel...yep...but also to prevent "you're a dirtbag" finger pointing.
It's like not screwing one of your buddy's girlfriends that you lust until she breaks up with him...but it's fair game the moment that occurs.
Why wouldnt it be?? with a great caliber coach and a great staff and recruiting I would expect immediate results first year..and then keep improving each year after that...if we did get a really good coach then by year 3 I really could see UT ranked in the top 10 again....
