I think its time to pull PWag and put Bonner in. Other moves I'd like to see, but not as emphatic:
Gray play in man to man situations.
Probst play a little for Lathers.
Orta get more from Moore.
If C. Harris has gotten healthy, play him some.

If we are going to look bad, let's look bad with kids that will learn and give us something for another 2-3 years.

The worst part is, we used this strategy in 2010 and 2011 in hopes that this year we would be experienced and better.....

Marlin Lane is Nowhere near as good a RB as Rajion Neal.

and it was blatantly evident last night.

Lane stops his feet in the backfield way too much. I counted 6 times where he stopped on a jump stop (usually indicative of someone afraid to cut off one leg) and completely stopped moving forward.

Lane is incredible in space with his shake but he has zero burst. man o man

Although I agree, Lane did fine last night. Considering we were playing the best rush defense I the country, he actually did pretty well. I'm more concerned with the pieces of the puzzle that are getting us L's. Our CBs are just sad. Coleman, I think can be good, but outside of him, I'm worried.

Yeah he was pissin me off with that BS.

I don't disagree. But who has ever done what you're asking against the teams we're playing. Everyone we lose to loses to everyone else we lose to except Bama. Spurrier got killed, UGA got killed, we should've beat UF. I just don't see any coaches out there not named nick saban that you could say with confidence would definitely be beating top ten teams right now at UT. If Dooley is to be fired, it should be for MSU and UF. those two games are inexcusable, especially UF.

Thing is, I'm not asking for much...I don't expect us to beat Bama, but getting blown out by your biggest rival two years in a row is unacceptable.

I'm anything but a Kiffin supporter but he kept a VERY good Bama team on the ropes until 00:00, that's all I want right now...keep it competitive.

Yogi Berra said it perfectly (even if it was baseball): "half of this game is 90% mental."

Can you honestly look at Dooley's teams and say they're mentally strong, overall? Sure, we have some real competitors that look like they'd run through a brick wall for a win, but I just don't see a unified team when I look at this team over the last two seasons--mentally or otherwise.

I disagree to a point. I think that asking him to make his first start against Bama is a lot. I think we can both agree that he has been underutilized.

He's not a QB. He's played a lot in two years. Maybe a lot for a freshman QB. Not a 2nd year RB.

I respect your opinions Breaker....but I still think he has been underutilized. When DY is getting carries before Lane there has to be some kind of back story.

Exactly. The only time DY should be on the field is in passing situations.(Not just screens)

South Carolina's overwhelming strength is their pass rush, which our OL should be able to mostly neutralize. Their second biggest strength is their secondary, which is an issue, but one we could theoretically overcome.

Offensively, they are banged up at RB and are playing musical chairs with their QBs.

A noon kickoff coming off back to back demoralizing Gamecock losses will mean that the crowd will be pretty sleepy next Saturday, a shadow of what it was when they played UGA.

I really think the tumblers are falling into place and we get the upset.

I heard from a student is that the rumor on campus is that he is not much of a practice player. This could have something to do with the order of carries.

Appreciate your tacit concession that RN has won the starting job.

Three. But I guess year "0" does not count.

I'm all the way with you on the mentality. I would argue that the winning edge left with the 07 seniors. it seems like none of the players on the team have known how to win since then. that has been one area where there's been zero improvement under Dooley, not just competing, winning. but Kentucky remains the only loss they should win ten out of ten times.

We have scored a combined 29 points against Bama the last 3 years. That combined point total would not be enough to beat Bama in any of those years, scary stuff.

Hart is not happy at all and i think its about to get ugly, i dont think any game the rest of the way will change anything. We needed to be competitive last night then have a good showing the rest of the way. Bama is the measuring stick of college football at the moment, Hart was over heard saying we're no closer now than 3 years ago. I hope he does it sooner rather than later so we can have a chance at a good recruiting class.

I still think that RN should have been playing the slot and that ML should have been the starting back.

The only way it would help is if he can name the new coach ASAP. Someone that is currently coaching can't be named until the end of the season, so firing Dooley now would not help in that scneario.

I don't think Hart pulls the trigger to begin a coaching search. In all likelihood there is a coach in waiting.

Lane is afraid of his knee. Its a shame too, he could be really really good.

skeeter - you hearing any info on possible replacements? Hearing anything on Gruden?

Quite a few folks on VN think he's in talks and will likely be announced the new coach in a couple weeks.
