So apparently UT is conducting a survery to UT students trying to figure out why they aren't going to the home games......that won't go well.

Chizik bought 1,000 chic-fil-a biscuits for first 1,000 students to enter AU stadium for Arkansas game. That didn't work out too well.

I admire your optimism. I just can't see us beating them. They are too good.

I like Dooley. I really do. A big part of me (the sensible side) says he should get extended because of what he walked into. I get emotionally wrapped up in the whole situation and get tired of the same mistakes left and right that I attribute to coaching, but the reality is that every good team has lapses, but they have on field leadership and elite talent that allows them to make a play to make up for it shortly after. We don't have that.

I know it's a cliche, but Rome really wasn't built in a day. With the relationships Dooley has built, and the core of coaches we have now, I really feel like in 3 years this thing could be in high gear again. I know fans don't want to wait another 3 years, but it's the reality of where we are....regardless of who our coach is.

I wouldn't mind them switching from Chaney, though. I am not confident in his play-calling.

3 years???? good grief. I can't take 3 more years of this. why don't we just give him 15 more years

I just don't see the point in doing that, to be honest.

I think you have to consider what he took over when he came here. It was realistically a minimum 5 year rebuilding job for this program, but I argue even longer. Give him 4 full years of his first full class of recruits after building relationships with high school coaches for 2 years. Hence, my 6 year argument. Just my opinion, though.

It is why or why don't you attend events, specially football. 3 ppl win sideline passes for Saturday.

Don't students have to pay for tickets now? That may be a reason. It should just be in their fees. The ones that don't go to games take advantage of other student activities or have the chance to, at least.

Student tickets are ten bucks...not a prohibitive cost for many.

Though I won't make a classist statement and say that all can afford them.

More Sentimore on Saban:

Really sad to say may actually be an improvement. Way to go Nick those classes are really paying off. - anyone remember this: Link

We have a fan base that is predominantly made up of front runners. Our program was an absolute nuclear waste dumpster fire. Then fans expected to win big in just 3 years? Just because our school's name is Tennessee and the tradition of the program?

Some folks need a dose of reality.

I expect my Vols to win every game.

I do not fliptrout if they do not:)

I see progress. I want to see a senior class that was baptized in the hell of the SEC, rise up and beat the she-ut out of our opponents. I want to see Coach Dooley get to coach his senior class.

I refuse to argue with close-minded idiots.

Tux, this is more in agreement with you. Definitely not aimed at you.

What forum are you in?

What is it with you guys? You read one post and respond, without bothering to understand the context, or even know what I am responding to. Not going to expect much reading comprehension or effort from you, but it might help to read what somebody is responding to before you decide to call someone out. If you go back and read my posts you would see why I frequent here.

(It is post #11368...so you don't strain yourself too much trying to find it)

They used to be free like many other SEC schools, UT is cracking down on any type of parties and social drinking. School spirit and moral is very low around campus. Many students are going to away games and other SEC match ups because they know they'll have more fun in Athens, Oxford, or Columbia.

Yes the D is holding them back. I agree with that. But who is the one who hired Sunseri? A good LB coach with basically a bad DC resume. Competing with an overated UGA team in a single season doesn't mean this program is "getting" better. Mississippi State is a team Tennessee flat out has more talent than. A loss to them is bad no matter how close the game was. This improvement you guys are seeing is just not happening. What is going to happen next year when the talent level especially on offense dips again?

Offensive coaching is good. Dooley is doing a good job there. I think we'll coach them up next year and still be productive. I think the defense will grow into their roles and if they don't someone younger who can make plays will fill their spot.

You're name is Sean Jean.

Good. Now that we have identified a couple of facts, leading for two big recruits in October does not equal signing a top level recruiting class.

For what it's worth, I don't have a real problem with Dooley's recruiting. I think he's done quite well there all things considered. I just don't think he can coach worth a damn.

This thread is not about Dooley's coaching!

Would a lot of current commits and others that have strong interest in UT be definitely lost with a homerun type hire?

I doubt it. In fact, we'd probably have a chance to get it on big time players that aren't currently interested in UT.
