'13 VA RB Derrick Green (Michigan commit)

Location and playing time behind an experienced O-line are our biggest selling points but if we undergo a coaching change and don't hold onto Jay Graham then it could be difficult to land him.

Totally agree that's why I hate all this firing stuff because people don't understand that the chances we get to keep the good coaches are slim we have a good coaching staff they just have to get over the hump! if Dooley gets fired all these prospects we need in this class will go elsewhere GOVOLS

It really would just depend on who the replacement coach is. Plus you have to factor in the new recruits that the new coach would bring in that wouldn't have been interested in us under Dooley for whatever reason.

This. If we were to get commitments from recruits of Green's and Lawson's caliber, it's unlikely that a new HC would tell them to look elsewhere. If the right hire is made (i.e. a big name, "homerun" hire) big time recruits will want to stick around. If it's an unknown commodity, "up and comer" then I agree that keeping guys like them will be a crapsshoot.

I am seriously kicking around the idea of putting on the Tennessee Orange and driving up to watch Derrick Green in person. I would love to meet a few other VOL fans at the game if you could make the trip. We could all sit together in our Big Orange colors and help cheer Derrick and Hermitage on. I think he would enjoy knowing the VOL Family really needs him and will travel to show our support for him.

Hermitage plays away at 7PM at Deep Run High school which is on the north west end of the Richmond, VA suburbs. I lived in that area for over 10 years and know it well.

If anyone thinks they could make the trip let me know. What a way to kick of the Alabama game weekend than getting to see someone who could help us reach the next level again.

Skeeter .. What do u think if a change is made .. Thing green will wait for the new coach and listen or just drop us .. I don't care who the coach is just asking ... We need green badly

I think below sums up how I feel. Also, it is very important to get guys we are on like Green. If this plays out, we should keep Dooley unless a homerun hire to keep building this roster.

Also, if we are competitive in the next two games and play hard for 4 quarters then win out the other four games, we will be 7-5. If we win a bowl, we would then be 8-5. The last two years top ranked teams have blown us out. We also seemed to lay down and quit when we got hit by adversity. We did not quit when down against Georgia or MSU. So, at this point, we have improved over the last couple of years to this year.

Also, what if we blow out the Cats and the Dorks? Regardless, it would show we are making progress.

After the first half of MSU game, I was furious. I still have my doubts about CDD. But, no way you could not see where there is improvement if that happens. And see the talent that so many say will come as long as he is the coach.

Has that happened yet? Heck no! But, let the season play out and see if it does. With that said, if you can get Gruden get him. But, if it is someone like Kirby Smart ect........., no need to go there yet for as much reason as guys like Green start looking elsewhere with Smart but probably come here if homerun hire and with how they feel about the school. Tough line to manage.

we are almost back imo. its like were on a rollar coster right before we get over the hill and then it starts to get fun. It was a slow climb but the result will be worth it.
Dooley has improved the team every year, next year the only way to improvement is to win games so i will hold judgement for now.

I agree to a point Dooley has restocked the cupboards with talent. And why we have kept games closer we need to play above our talent level pull off a big win that were not supposed to win and get people saying positive things about this university then the recruit that are on the fence will feel more comfortable pulling the trigger.

If Graham stays, which he should, I think we still have a shot.

Immediately.

No chance. It would help his campaign, but at this point no single game can save his career.

Derek Dooley is on the brink of defeat and everyone knows it. Based on his career at UT, this single game vs Alabama is a minute, or even obsolete, point on a road map to failure.

...In my opinion. LOL

Because Dooley isn't going anywhere.

If Graham wants to go, he can find a way to leave, with or without Dooley's permission.

Not saying it is going to happen, Im just pointing out that whether Dooley stays or not, if Graham wants to leave he can find a way if he wants.
