Trying to Confirm

As I have mentioned before, if Dooley wins 8 games, he stays for a while. Seven games, it is a tossup as to whether he stays or not. Six games and I believe he is history. If Dooley has to be replaced, we will need to shell out a BIG pile of money to get the absolute best. I don't want a ''has-been" or some assistant, who has never been a Head Coach in his career. I have heard on Sound-Off this morning from a caller, who said that he knew of a former player from years ago, who has already committed to pay for Dooley's buyout. Obviously, he wasn't ready to give a name over-the-air, but, he did say with enough research, we could figure out who it is.

Yeah if all of this is true, he deserves a hearty hand shake and a pat on the back. The guy wanted it but couldn't get it done, we don't need to be mean about it or be disrespectful. I feel like he truly does want success, he isn't here doing things underhanded or incorrectly. He operates with honor and that alone has helped our football program. If this is true, he failed while giving everything he had and trying to do it right. I can respect a man for that, and respect him deeply.

I agree with this. I have been off the fence since Kentucky last season. I was really hoping the Florida game would put me back on the fence. Instead, it made it clear to me that Dooley can't coach. He was, however, just what the doctor ordered in terms of building the program back the right way. The roster is greatly improved compared to when he got here. He gave us the VFL program, which is great imo. He has also done a good job of instilling character into our players in terms of their off the field lives. You can't wish the guy to be fired without respecting the job that he did in all these other areas. Thanks for the effort Dooley. We wish you well, but we are excited about a future with a new coach.

Andre Lott?

I was. Like the guy.

Not getting it done

Time to switch gears

Still holding out for the rest of the season to play out. If he hadn't fumbled late, I think we'd won that game. We've been snake bit and I'm hoping we get some good luck our way. What happens...happens.

If we're going to make the change, it might as well be now. The new coach can get in and still get a solid recruiting class if he is able to hit the trail ASAP--especially if it's a big name guy.

He is already gone.

Hart was the AD at FSU when we beat FSU for the National Title in 98. He knows what he is doing. I think he definitelunhas a list, and possibly even got a commit from a coach...He is just waiting for Dooley to fail and then he and the coach will make it public.

I say keep Dooley on the staff as a recruiting coordinator ( cant lie...he can recruit), and maybe the head of VFL program.

I would be highly disappointed if a change is made for some retread. A big name who can change things quickly or just stay the course IMO

Waiting for Dooley to fail or finish the season, because I believe he has already checked the box on failing.

Saban is going to Texas:zeitung_lesen:

Been a rumor for a while. They have the resources and budget to throw crazy money at him and he is about the closest to a sure thing hire as you can get. There were rumors they would offer something like 10 years and 70 mil.

We're hiring Lou Holtz for a season to take one for the team, so to speak, for the entire football watching nation just to get him off of ESPN. The collective goodwill we reap will allow us hire Saban, Carroll, and Jimmy Johnson as a superstar coaching staff at the end of next season. Just a rumor, TIFWIW.

I'm not sure I want to ditch Dooley yet. Yea, it's been bad, but the SEC has five teams in the top 11 of the BCS. I would ask the question, can he recruit, because recruiting is huge. It seems to me that he's done a good job of recruiting, given the circumstances. We've got more talent and depth than we had a year or two ago--but as anyone who as seen our defense knows, we need more. And then I would ask: are we more competitive than we have been the last few years. I think so--but yea, the results have not followed. All things considered, though the results have been bad, we should be prudent. I wouldn't sack him until and unless we had a damn good coach ready and willing to take the job.

Since the title of the thread is "trying to confirm", have we confirmed anything yet, what are we confirming? From what I've read we r confirming what Lowe said and putting it on here like its inside info

Our three losses have a 14-1 record with wins over top 5 ranked teams at the time and only loss to LsU who also beat the #3 team today... The Sec may just be that good.

According to Springbokvol, Dooley's agent has been making lots of phone calls tonight. Hart has been navigating back channels in contacting a prospective coach. These things are confirmed, provided you trust SBV's reputation, which most do. He has been a very reliable poster with inside info in the past. Believe it or don't. I am definitely playing the wait and see game, but I'm cautiously optimistic.

NO MORE EXCUSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We need to be one of those teams that are kicking ass, not the other way around!!!!!!!!

I doubt there is anything of substance to "confirm". Dooley isn't the man but he'll probably get UT to 7-5 and buy himself at least another year.

Friendly advice: Pay attention to what so-called "insiders" say. Make a mental note of it when they are right or wrong. Look for a pattern and you will discover which ones actually know what they are talking about.

Spoiler: SpringBokVol knows what he is talking about.
