Charlie Strong

When Jon Gruden was coaching, he hated rookie QB's because they didn't get his system. He would rather have journeyman QBs like Brad Johnson and Rich Fanning because they had been around the block a few times. He will pull his hair out with 18-22 year old QB's.

One fear I have with Gruden is that his offense may be too complicated for college players.

Jim Chaney has too many "Guru" type moments.

Football is simple. run the ball, get the ball out the QBs hand and get it to your best players.

My Main issue with Coach Sal (besides lack of adjustment to alignment issues) is that he has forced the 3-4 on a team who's strengths play to a 4-3.

I know in the end, he wants to be a base 3-4 guy but you cant just plug 4-3 guys into that D and expect it to turn out okay.

I am also not a fan of not having a designated Free and Strong Safety.

those guys arent interchangeable and shouldnt be played that way.

just my :twocents:

Great post Jay, agree w/ it 100%

I agree.

I can understand it a little, he has been in the SEC, has had good defenses every where he has been, has recruited well to Louisville so far, has L-ville playing good ball.

He could change my mind by the end of the year. I think he'll end up in the SEC next year one way or another.

Charlie Strong would not be a sexy hire. but very Solid.

No non sence, great recruiter (esp in South FL)

Exactly and I don't think he will compromise.
That is really my major drawback with him. He seems set that he wants to run his system. Honestly, I doubt he is really interested in the job though.

I'm a Strong fan. Not sure if he'd be my top choice, but I would not be opposed at all to making him an offer.

Do not see that connection at all. He is a proven X's and O's guys. Lane Kiffin is a big time recruiter. not big time X's and O's

He and Lane were both fired after making a mistake that went against the grain of the owners. Lane just went collegiate level while Josh went OC level. People argue Lane knows his X's and O's so I'll take that assumption with a grain of salt.

I agree totally about the offense, i feel as if Chaney outthinks himself. As for defense anytime you switch from a 4-3 to a 3-4 your going to have issues, i think more the problem is 4 coordinators in 5 years

Mcdaniels downfall was denver set him as the GM. No clue why.

And if you look at the people who are big on Mcdaniels as oppose to LK. as far as NFL coaches its not even close. Mcdaniels is a far better offensive coach then LK

You are a GM in college as a head coach. He's an OC not a HC.
