'13 VA RB Derrick Green (Michigan commit)

That thread is worthless to me. Too many idiot posters on there. It takes hours to sift through all the trolling on that thread and find any information from anyone halfway reliable. I know what I know about the situation and I'll leave it at that. Do I believe Gruden will be the next HC at Tennessee if the job opens up this year? Yes. And you wouldn't see him ignore elite talents who want to switch their commitment to Tennessee either.

Is Dooley ignoring elite talent who wants to switch... ??

link? and names that CDD ignored.

I remember not too long ago Woulard was a "diamond in the rough" 3star and most on here would have bashed Dooley for taking his commitment. I also remember HG saying he didn't perform well at UF's camp and Muschamp didn't offer. Then Woulard has a great showing in the Elite 11, gets a high ranking, and now he's a must get and Dooley and Chaney are ignoring elite talents? Maybe, just maybe, they like Ferguson (another guy who performed really well at the elite 11), are only taking 1 QB and they got their guy.

Don't understand the difference between 3-2 and 3-2...

It's all about perception. Michigan exceeded all expectations last year with an 11-2 record and a win in the Sugar Bowl.

Two wins in the next 3 weeks will go a LONG way in restoring UT to national-relevance.

Until such time, this is the world we live in.

We don't need 2 QBs in this class.

I say bring in the best at every position that want to be Vols. If it's 2-3 QB's, let them come in and compete. It always works it's way out. Peyton/Stewart, Ainge/Schaeffer, Crompton/Stephens. Competition breeds a healthy environment that fosters overall team advancement. If you can't hack it, then transfer; which usually is the result. But, in the end, you know you have your guy, and it's not a what if, like missing on Randall Cobb, Greg Hardy, Kelly Holcomb, Fred Lane, D.D Lewis from the Cowboys, and even farther back to Ed "Too Tall" Jones.

I think it comes down to needs at this point. What other position would you substitute to take another QB? And I understand Woulard isn't just any other QB, but he still would take up a spot that is desperately needed elsewhere.

Nah Bongterrio (never gets old) was a few years before Kelly's arrival as OC.

Stewart and LeGarrette were both Kelly RBs though, as well as Jeremiah Johnson (who I mention only because he was a bit bigger than James and Barner.)

I was thinking he was before Kelly but couldn't remember. :hi:

I though stewart was there when chip came in believe. can you name a power back that he has recruited to play in his system besides those two if they were there.

And i would like to point out that if green's parents have a problem with the distance to michigan, then they are gonna flip their sh!t if he goes to oregon. lol

The first part is a stretch. On the inference that CDD is ignoring elite talent...care to elaborate?

Blount was there in 09. Kelly was OC in 07 and helped get Blount to UO from EMCC. O Smith went to UO in 01 & 02 after he was booted by CPF.

Good point in theory. In reality, the numbers do not allow for such. This classes primary focus = O-Linemen and LB's.

Yes, correct. My intent was not to imply that Kelly *recruited* Stewart to Oregon (but he did recruit LGB.) Stewart was a Jr when Kelly came in for the '07 season as OC. LGB came in for '08 specifically because we needed somebody to fill the void left by Stewart going pro.

The only other 'power' type I can recall being recruited to Oregon in the Kelly era would probably be Dontae Williams, but he transferred.

I don't think any of this means anything though. Any RB worth his salt is going to have success in an offense that opens lanes like this one does. Both tiny quarkbacks (thanks chris/smartfootball) and powerbacks can produce big numbers within Kelly's offenses.
