What is so appealing about Gruden? Sure he won a Super Bowl and then found himself fired after not being able to repeat. Sound familiar? And dare I bring up the name Kiffin? M. Kiffin was the designer of the Tampa 2 defense correct? The defense responsible for a great deal of of the Buc's success. Monte is a Trojan and is not coming back. Give me some evidence that Gruden could win in the SEC.

He banged a UT cheerleader, it has to count towards championships.

I think Gruden is a Coach Dooley fan!

Gruden is one of the brightest offensive minds in football. He has legendary work ethic. He is a star and probably one of the most popular coaches in America. Him coming to Tennessee would be covered for the entire offseason by the sports outlets. He won at the highest level in the NFL which is something that Saban and Spurrier cannot say. Monte? There are plenty of DC's from which Chucky can select.

He took tampa to the playoffs three times and Oakland twice. He also had a winning record in the playoffs.

Tough division (Saints, Carolina when they were pounding the ball on teams, and Atlanta)?

Gruden said himself that his big mistake was not drafting a QB like Rodgers and Matt Ryan. Usually hard to get an elite QB in the draft when you fall in the middle of the pack each year.

True on all counts. Same thing applies in the SEC. I know Gruden knows his business without a doubt but nothing tells me he is a sure success so many here would seem to believe.

Guess I'll be the first to check in this morning.
In regards to MedicT's question about Gruden, the quick answer is that no one knows for sure if Gruden could come in and in a short time, put us into contention for championships. But, recruiting is the life blood of college football, and he has the name recognition that kids can identify with. Of course, it takes more than just getting the kids there, just ask UGA. Our recruiting is not where it should be to compete with the top four schools. CDD has not been able to break that big game loss streak........so far. There has been improvement, but not enough to compete. Whether or not The Gru could be the guy, is anybodies guess. Of course, as always........JMO.
