You would have some Grudenites respond by saying that it's acceptable and others that would not..But I think it's safe to say that we would all agree that it's better than 6-6..I'm willing to take that chance,though..Thank u for the good discussion.

Same to you. I am simply trying to point out that rebuilding a program is not a short term endeavor for any coach or any program. I don't think anyone is satisfied with the program right now, including Coach Dooley and the team, but I think we are seeing progress albeit not as quickly as anyone would like for it be. I'm sure Gruden would have his challenges and bumps along the way also and plenty of naysayers of course.

Absolutely, every fan base would have and does have plenty of them.

Have a good day, sir and please post any time! I enjoy having discussions with rational people...Name calling, arguing, and such isn't necessary and does nothing for the discussion.

Well, SNAP! I stand corrected. Could swear I read an article in the past few weeks that indicated he was in the 3rd of a 4yr contract. Hamilton....you bastard, you!!! :censored:

He puts UT on the hook at every freakin turn. Fulmer at $6mill. Kiffin with peanuts for a buyout. Then $4-5mill for Dooley after this season. WTF. Hamilton is like a bad case of Herpes. The impact of his destructive decisions just never goes away.

I would think that anything less than 8 would get him fired.

I thought so too, but Hamilton put us so deep on the hook, that we would probably have to lose to Vandy and KY both this year. He nearly pulled that feat off last year, so yeah...he's making progress alright. Just in the wrong direction.

Here I thought all this time that Dooley had signed a 4-year contract..If the boosters want him gone bad enough, surely they will find a way...but what the hell do I know??

The only people that like this 6-year contract deal are the Dooley lovers, the Grudenites hate it..But we're not giving up.:clapping:

I don't know what in hades Hamilton was thinking...giving a 6yr contract with steep buyouts (for us) to a coach who hasn't proven a damn thing! I'm angrier with that man than I ever was in the past...and I didn't think that was possible. He gets the Bonehead Athletic Director of the decade award...hands down.

It's going to take a major meltdown, like last year...to make this thing happen. And even then, Hamilton left Hart pretty much handcuffed unless some big donors helps.

Agreed.

Dooley had the leverage in that negotiation because a number of other coaches had turned us down. It was his first SEC win against an over-ranked AD.

The timing was absolutely terrible. Hamilton panicked, apparently trying to save a recruiting class. He should have made Kippy interim HC and proceeded with a proper search. The whole thing was doomed from the start.

I have to disagree with some of that. Sumlin was interested and he was immanently more qualified than Dooley. Hamilton doesn't have a spine, so in that regard, you're right...Dooley had leverage over a wet noodle.

Hamilton sipped the Saban sauce...thinking that would surely make a position coach qualified to lock horns with proven coaches making $4-5mill/yr...in a sub $2mill/yr salary....with a losing record at a dead end HC job.

Kippy Brown would have been a better option than this..no doubt. But Sumlin had proven credentials at rebuilding a program and making them play above their talent level. Hamilton should be tarred and feathered at our next home game!

I would've been happy w/ Sumlin as compared to Dooley..So I agree with u on that.:good!:

We need some donor to step up and rid us of this heinous Hamilton syndrome. Otherwise this program might have to be moved from the new facilities to the UT Medical Branch.

NOBODY wanted the job. Dooley stuck his neck out and risked ending his head coaching career by coming here. He will be back next year too I think.

I've always liked Gruden, just never made it known until I stumbled across this thread.:)

I am newly converted negavol, started after the UF game and carried over into the 1st half of the Akron game..My exact words were,"This is freakin' Akron!":banghead2:
