Jon Gruden thread (merged)

Those cowbells are loud... and it really comes down to that game. They can play physically as well. So, if we lose that one... 0-for-October is almost a certainty.

That'd leave us with 3 losses to ranked opponents and amazing stats from the Troy game, going into Mizzo and, if we beaten up physically, we could lose that one.

After that, morale is probably at an all-time low for UT, leaving Vandy who will be ready and Kentucky who beat us last year.

I'm not saying we'll lose the balance minus Troy, but I can't rule that out based on what I've seen from Dooley thus far.

Well-said..We can't take any game for granted, and I have been guilty of that already this year..Learned my lesson.

That is exactly my opinion..It's unfortunate that others perceive us as wanting them to lose just so Dooley will get fired...Don't worry about what they think..It just rolls right off of me.:twocents:

Honestly , it doesn't both me. It just seems really off to think we want Tennessee to lose them all so we can get Gruden. I just wanted to know if anyone is thinking that way , because I've seen nobody in this thread say that.

Businesses also run a cost benefit analysis to determine what would happen in the best case scenerio (Grunden wins, Gruden stays for some time) as well as worst case (Gruden loses) and the ramifications on the entire department. Its called risk managment and that's what multi million dollar businesses do, not throw money at a window hoping it sticks.

Companies do invest in their future but they also research to determine if it is worth their time / money to do it. Those that dont go out of business. Fast.

Do we get 3 credit hours for this lecture?

I would take Gruden regardless of the outcome of the season. UF and UGA are enough for me. That said I will be at the games rooting for my Vols.

yes... I'd love to see Dooley win every game he plays as the Vols coach. Beating Bama would be an extraordinary uplifting experience.

But, I can separate my emotional desire from my rational thought.

Yeah, same here..I'm not gonna say that we're gonna beat MSU just b/c that's what they want to hear...Until Dooley can prove he can win a meaningful game, I have zero faith that he can.

When you first posted this, I had to stop and think if I had said anything in regards to that..Don't remember doing that.:ermm: In this thread, most of us understand each other's view and assume that what you mentioned is a given..We don't have to explain that to each other, just the others that question us..Sheesh..does that make sense?

My point is that it's ridiculous for others to think that we want the Vols to lose all their games just to get Gruden here..That's just crazy, but they will think what they will think anyway..Can't control that.

Ok , but had he won those games , your opinion is basically the same as mine. You just decided to pass judgement earlier than I have. I have said I am waiting to see what we do the next few games. Beating nobody that matters is enough of a reason for him to be on his way out this year. But by no means did you want us to lose these games just to be done with Dooley. Right?

Over 500 pages and not 1 credible post that says it will. I honestly think this is a joke thread. Wish it would happen, heck any proven coach would make me happy. It's painfully obvious our current coach will never win to the fans or AD's standards.

What's wrong,EG?:wink2:

I say it's a good thread. Maybe not credible, but very entertaining at times.

And I'd guess that it is 99.99% probably that Gruden, Dooley, and/or Hart are not hanging on every post in this thread, looking for advice on the right path to take.

Yes.

Let me get an opinion for you people in this thread. Would you not love to see Dooley run the table , or at least beat Bama? I have said it once and I will say it again. I want to win them all. Just because I want Gruden to replace Dooley , doesn't mean I am hoping we will lose. I haven't seen any of you say that. Someone in another thread is saying that is the same thing as wanting to lose. I'd love win all the games we play and keep Dooley because he would have proven he could win. Finally. Is this not the same opinion of most of you? You want to win , you just don't see it happening because we have been given no reason to believe he can get it done. Opinions please.[/QUOT

I'm on board with that train of thought. I really wanted to see us Whup up on Uf, but the team looked similar to last year. It's not one game, it's an accumulation of games and HOW they lost them.

And that is the reason why we have no reason to believe at this point. It's really pretty simple. If you can't beat anyone that matters (and I don't include MSU if it happens) in 3 years and your lifetime record against ranked teams is 0-20 , you have to find another coach.

Your preaching to the choir, butI still like hearing it.

Two assistants that I would love to see join Gruden's staff if he does become our coach would be Jay Gruden for OC and Raheem Morris for DC...Thoughts?

Agreement has already been made behind the scenes. Nothing will come out until the end of the month unless we get blown out the next two games. Even then it's still not likely until after USCe.

I hope your right but what if we beat Miss St and South Carolina
