Tennessee is never going to win anything of significance as long as Dooley is here. The only reason to keep him if literally nobody is willing to spend money on his buyout (which I already know is not true), or that nobody is willing to take the job (which I very much doubt).I'm just saying, next year doesn't look any better than this one if DD is retained.
Have no idea what you are talking about.
I want a winner. That's all. If its Dooley, I'm fine with that. If it is someone else, I'm fine with that too.
I simply question whether you can be an elite, championship coach in CFB without being an exceptional recruiter and manager of recruiting.
What makes you think Gruden would be a great closer?
I could see just the opposite. Would he have the patience to court a 17 years old prima donna? These recruits have name brand coaches fawning all over them. Would Gruden be able to handle a punk kid treating him like just another prom date option?
I don't know and neither do you... neither does Gruden for that matter. The game and especially the recruiting game has changed significantly since he was at Pacific.
Maybe even a bigger question is would he have the desire to put in the hours needed to be an elite recruiter? It isn't just the work. Its being away from home, late nights during the "off season", hours of video trying to get on the next great player early, etc. It is a marathon. It is something a coach has to love to do to be successful in CFB.
Again, no one including Gruden truly knows if he wants to do that at this stage of his career though he probably has a some idea.
I'm just playin' around some. I have no malice in my heart. I know there's a bunch that doesn't believe that, but I can't control how others feel. I wouldn't want to. I have enough issues by myself.
You been to Cherokee lately? I didn't fish it at all this summer. I can go there and catch 30+ walleye every trip. The problem is that since they raised the size limit to 18" to produce "trophies" (wallies are for eating not wall-hanging) you're lucky if 1 out of every 10 fish is a keeper. 17 3/4" inch fish seem to stay 17 3/4" because that's what I caught for 3 summers in a row. I hit South Holston all the time now. Prettier lake, cleaner/cooler water, and you catch bigger fish. You catch more keepers than throwbacks on SH. I caught an 8+lb and a 5+lb wallie on the same trip this summer. That's huge fish for trolling. Those are just a bit above average throwing plugs at night though. I put about 50 fish in the freezer this past season. Not great, but still better than most. It was not a banner year for anyone that I've talked to. Later, man
Oh and Hire Gruden!
Sorry. Work got in the way.
I have confidence in this guy that's why I offered the avatar bet as proof instead of take my word for it.
Do you think he deserves another year? I don't see 2013 being any better. If the players go pro that we expect , next year could be even worse. Plus we go to Florida , Alabama and Oregon.
