Luckily for UW Wilcox must be exempt from that 1-year transition when changing defenses.

Washington D 2011/2012
Total Defense 106th/21st
Scoring Defense 108th/32nd

Tennessee D 2011/2012
Total Defense 28th/79th
Scoring Defense 36th/81st

Seriously. Do some of you realize we only have Sal because Wilcox left for what he thought was a better job. Not because we didn't want him. Now he's beating top 10 teams and we are making excuses why we suck. Its beyond getting old already.

That was with a fully stocked cupboard personel wise, their season was MUCH easier. This is where that pesky term about true, overall football knowledge comes into play. See, you can't compare their SEASONS to our first five games, even if we HAD been recruiting towards the change for a couple of years in preparation like they did OR EVEN HAD A FULLY MANNED TEAM. Their end season stats don't tell the full story. If you don't believe that it was a difficult transition then your head was under a rock. Look up some Richt quotes.

Did you watch last season? Most of the players are back from a defense that finished sixth in the SEC and 30th nationally. These are the same players we have now.

Sunseri is a failure. Now we know why he he has been an assistant for his most of his career.
ARRRRRGH!!!!!! Please don't hang your stupid flag that high up when others are around!

That was with a fully stocked cupboard personel wise, their season was MUCH easier and they saved face by improving DRASTICALLY in their last 6 games. They were HORRID in their first 5 games (1-4 and gave up 31 to a hapless Colorado team and lost)

Boom!+1

I must have missed coach Sal on the field missing tackles

I wonder if our defense would benefit from practicing against tougher RBs. While our guys have good speed, they seem to go down pretty easy if the opponent can get even one hand on their ankle. In our practices, the Vols defense probably takes the RBs down but in games the opponents are running through these arm tackles. We just don't have the big bodied RBs like we are facing in the SEC.

In some ways yes.

Wilcox couldn't put both Ds he coached here together and even get close to what Sal is working with talent wise.

Sal is trying to install a complex system that takes a lot of time. In the meantime we are getting ripped if we don't cause a turnover.

Sal is the hero because he is here. Wilcox sucks because he left.
....and a big part of that talent is here BECAUSE of Sal and to learn this system to get a shot at Sundays. Ya'll are looking at snapshots and ignoring the movie.
