moral victory: losing, but looking good in the process at some point
moral loss: won ugly, but won

If a moral victory doesn't count, and I agree that it shouldn't, why should a moral loss count?

If the won-lost record doesn't get upped to include moral victories, then please stop acting like we're 2-2.

We're not 2-2. However, we've beaten 2 creampuffs and one below average team. The only time we faced real competition, we got run off our home field. All of the teams we will face in October are as probably as good or better than the UF team we looked like we didn't even belong on the same field with.

Because to be the truly elite SEC team we want to be again, we have to stop playing down to the level of our competition. There was no excuse to give up 26 points to that team last night, let alone have our starters playing in the 4th quarter. Last night's game reminded be of UAB in 2010, and that was a pretty big embarrassment as well.

Some truths some inaccuracies.

I agree with you. Akron was a trap game sandwhiched inbetween two huge SECE games. not reading too much into it. We won, move on to georgia

We gave them 10 easy points, kicked 4 field goals and give up too many plays on defense. Time to move on to next week...

It counts and I've not seen anyone say other wise. Being critical of the way we had to COME BACK against the power house that is Akron does not make us anything other than fans.

I completely agree. That was scary.

I just think the more appropriate reaction is a nervous "Whew", wipe the sweat off the brow, and realize that we're still in the process of coming back.

I'm worn out by all the endless "why aren't we wonderful now already" posts. Too much Hollywood thinking, where everything has to be wrapped up at perfect by the time the credits roll.

If we had won against UF then I'd be all on board with the trap talk. But seeing how we got pounded at home on national TV I don't buy it. The team should have been fired up and hungry to pound another team to let aggression out. But we obviously were not prepared and it showed.

We gave up 17 easy points. 10 spotted from turnovers and one complete bust on defense. Other than that we held them to 3 FGs that their terrible kicker was able to hit. Despite going to half time teid I never once felt like we would lose the game.

And UAB 2010? We went to OT with them. We just won by 21. The hyperbole on this board is silly.

Meanwhile Bama had to kick 4 FGs, gave up a turnover and got none against a terrible FAU team. They should have drubbed them by 60 with their 3rd string but they only scored 40. I bet their fans aren't in moral loss mode.

This is the difference right here between the Bama/LSU/Florida/USCw fan bases and ours. They demand Championship contention on all levels every year or toss the coach and bring in the next one that will. Our fan base settles and is content on giving someone that has a record of failure more time to build up that record of failure.

I pray for this program and the players he proves the so called NegaVols wrong but if history continues repeat itself....how much more is ok then?

Our coach has a losing record complete goose egg against top teams that we need to beat every season. Our players so far play like losers against those given teams. The coach doesn't know how to beat them....our players quit in everyone of those games each season. What will the excuses be for the next four losses?

I hope we win but nothing gives me that feeling anymore after how we lost that Florida game. Dooley had a chance to show us he had figured it out then.....well we know the end of that story.

I was actually agreeing with your point in the first paragraph then giving another 2¢ in the next two.

Someone else mentioned UAB 2010.

Who have those teams fired in past 20 years in less than 3 years? Zook made it thru 3/4 of his 3rd season but he didn't take over the dumpster fire Dooley did and he lost to some bad teams.

I'm not convinced Dooley is the answer by any means but I prefer to let the season play out, particularly October, before saying with 100% certainty that he doesn't deserve to be here one more year.

We aren't even a rank team and we play like one but a win is still good right now. Don't care who we beat...UF or Akron...a win is a win. Time to move on and get ready for UGA.

No read to dwell on the Akron game or find the negatives. While I don't think we looked good, a win is a win. The fact is that, barring a fluke loss, it wasn't a game that anybody was going to use to judge anything. The next four games will tell us the tale we need to know. No reason to fight over nothing.

UF is better than you are giving them credit for.
Much better.

I agree with you. You responded to someone who has no context for history...

Bama fans and administration demand such excellence that it took them 18 years (or so) to find relevance between their last championship and Saban.

SCAR went, what, 16 years between joining the SEC and an SEC east championship? All of the king's horses and all of the king's men can't get SCAR an SEC championship or even a single national championship. Fire Spurrier.

Florida went almost 60 years in the SEC before winning an SEC championship.

UGA has how many BCS championships, how many SEC championships simply because their fans demand success? I guess they should fire Richt.

Has anyone looked at how awful LSU was before 1999 (before Saban/Miles)?

I am pulling these numbers from memory, so forgive me if I am a little off, but you get the point.
