When I was 19 I told my parents to go to hell, moved out of their house, and eventually moved to Columbia, Missouri for a year. Where I lived with a girl who was 6'2" whom I had initially met on the 1989 version of the Internet.

To this day I am not exactly willing to call it a screwup.

This is great and makes me feel better.

Thank you. :hi:

Did she end up your wife?

Woman are evil and God figured men had it too easy.

Haha, hey there is some merit to that. When I was 19 (27 now) I was with the ole high school sweetheart, we were together for 4 years. Long story short, she is marrying some poor sucker in a couple of weeks and I thank the lord it is not me. TIFWIW.

And no I didn't get an invitation.

How was Columbia, Missouri?

Surprisingly pretentious, for a nothing little college town surrounded on all sides by 100 miles of corn fields. They were a bunch of farmers' kids who all thought they were the shat for going to college. I got far more contempt for being from Tennessee in Missouri than I did from the New Yorkers I worked with when I later lived up in DC. (As in, they seriously asked if I grew up going to a one-room schoolhouse.)

I had a fun year there, mostly because I was doing nothing but drinking and screwing, but I have never been back and I have never even thought about going back.

Wow, that description of the place actually surprises me a lot.

I need to explore more locations.

Columbia itself is (or at least was 20 years ago) the quintessential college town, even more so than Athens, Ga. When school is out the streets are empty. Everything there revolves around MU and a girl's college.

That's how the town I am in now is, plus some waning tourism

She told me all about you. :)
