Question about athletes and pot smoking...

Which means it should not even be tested for. Roids and the like should be suspension worthy as they have totally different affects on the game. And the game is the key because he was tested as a football player. Test all students or none. Are you trying to remove weed from football or school? What is the goal or anticipated outcome of testing some (athletes) and not others (students in general)? Seems biased, but I can't figure out how or why. Guess a non smoker would know the answer.

Agreed. It's only illegal because pharms have yet to commit given they are still probably trying to project the market for profit margins. Or perhaps they have and concluded that there is limited money to be made, which I find a little difficult to believe.

They already have a THC pill so they are making money & it can actually be regulated. Just deal with & take your chances it's all about getting high & there's no way to justify anything else.

If weed has no effects as some are implying why smoke it?
The stuff today not any good?

Back in the day when I smoked, I smoked to get f---ed up.

A bunch of druggies on here trying to act like weed is no more than a vitamin.
Give me a break...

just admit you smoke to get stoned.

I smoke to help me sleep, as my mind moves 100 different directions, and I don't have side effects like a sleeping pill. I have also had almost 15 surgeries and severe pain in my right leg, and a puff helps take my mind off of it, versus popping pain pills like pez. And I'll take a puff instead of a 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc..., drink, as I am up everyday at 5 AM and don't want to be hungover, or a sloppy drunk.
Like the other guy, I also have my own businesses, have been happily married for 17 years, and am heavily involved with everything my kids do, which includes competing in jiujitsu, though I am limited on some moves. I also get mine from a CEO of a regional company that grows his own for personal use.
Call me a pothead if you wish. I don't care.

When did I try to justify anything?

Maybe I misunderstood but wasn't intending on being a d*%^ if it came across that way. I don't care who smokes or for what reason but I'm not sure why everybody wants to try & justify it that does it. Do what makes you happy but don't argue that it's better than alcohol, used for medical reasons, would help economy if legal, etc etc etc. I have smoked on a few occasians & it's just not all that to me but to each their own. Just realize its illegal for now & there are extreme life altering consequences for some that get caught no matter if they think its a big deal or not.

Seems to me most ppl want to justify what others should do. :)

Facts:

MJ is an addictive drug

MJ has harmful effects: neuro, emotional, pulmonary

The potency of MJ has significantly increased over the years

MJ has significant short-term dangers, as well, and it impairs coordination, memory, and judgment

Rehab is a long process due to the long half-life and prolonged effects on the brain. Nausea, sleeplessness, anxiety, and frank psychosis are common.

Rehab admissions have increased dramatically in recent times.

I will not argue alcohol and cigarette comparisons. However, there is ample medical evidence that all of the above are unquestionable.

And all the pain pills written for people dealing with RA OA PSA or cancer have no issues whatsoever.

Have someone you love suffer then get back to me.

I'm not sure what you are asking me to do, and I do deal with patients that suffer from debilitating afflictions. I have also lost family members after long painful struggles.

Having firsthand witnessed on many occasions the short-term effects of MJ intoxication, the long-term effects of chronic use/abuse (apathy, memory loss, delusions), and the profound withdrawal symptoms that some people experience (sleeplessness, irritability, GI upset, and psychosis), I don't even need to reference the abundance of medical literature to say with confidence that the drug is addictive and harmful.

As a Tennessee fan I have to wonder how stupid & selfish a kid is to smoke weed knowing his chances of getting caught are pretty high. How can he justify hurting his team, his own future, & all the people that support him? Is it really worth it?

I think it's a relatively common activity for college kids since the Egyptians ruled the world.

There are just as many studies that say the opposite.

No doubt but the kid that's riding mom & dads dime & doesn't participate in sports isn't subject to the same standards & doesn't suffer any consequences.

Alcohol is legal and more harmful not to mention more addictive. Oxy is legal, way more addictive and has more side effects as well.
The benefits of MJ far outweigh the perceived subjective risks.

****Slice doesn't use pot and is a recovering alcoholic ******

Anything is harmful if you abuse it. Oxy & pain killers alike is a narcotic which is highly addictive & there should be doctors held accountable.

It ain't the thing to do because it's the thing to do. It's the thing to do because it gets you high.

I'm sure you can find a study out there that says meth, cocaine, or whatever other drug there is isn't that bad for you.

All of which have derivatives used in legal drugs, but you have no problem with that? Also, to all of those making the argument that it has no benefit but to get you stoned and eat a bag of Cheetos, you are dead wrong.
