IF we beat NC ST who has 1 of the best secondary units in the nation that will ensure us we are okay without "DR" that being said Bray must at least have 200-250 yards vs NC ST if we wanna be truly confident about our season.. and all i have to say is GO VOLS 1 PLAYER DOESNT MAKE A TEAM IF CP IS AS PRODUCTIVE EVEN HALF OF HOW PRODUCTIVE "DR" WAS THEY WILL DOUBLE THE OUTSIDES LEAVING (Neal open MR open ZR open Blanc open SOMEBODY GETTING OPEN!!) LETS GO VOLS LETS GO PUT UP OR SHUT UP GIVE US 6 DONT QUIT!!! ANY TEAM THAT PLAYS TOGETHER CAN TAKE DOWN CHAMPIONS!!!!!! #VFL

Nice post, I agree. Never mind the haters.

I think NCIS will go ahead and double Hunter, and dare Patterson to 1) run the correct route and 2) be cool enough under this new pressure to not drop it.

But that won't matter, if we can run the ball.

If I was the coach (I am no coach) I would strike hard against what I percieve to be NCS weakness, new LB core. Either run the ball or short passes to TE or RB. If we can have enough success running the ball (short game) early NCS will have to pull up the safties to help and play action pass should leave the big targets open. JMHO

I am upset we lost such a talent, I felt like a horse kicked me in the gut when I heard the news, but no one player should make or break this team if we are anywhere close to getting back to where we should! Heres to setting the Dome on fire!

Go Vols!

Patterson has been practicing against an SEC defense all season. He will be playing against NCSU's schemes, filled with UT talent, until the actual game.

I like his chances.

In 85 we lost Tony Robinson, arguably the most exciting and one of the best QBs we ever had. It hurt, but the team rallied and the rest is history.

Besides, NC State is where we establish the fact we have a run game now.

I am going to answer to the title since trying to read that post makes my eyes cross.

NCSU can tell us only how "bad" the team is or at least could be. They have a good scheme and some good players. IMHO, Amerson is pretty similar to Waggner though PW may be a better one on one cover guy. However UT plays at least 5 teams with more defensive talent. They play at least 4 teams with significantly better DB's than NCSU has. No one game defines a team but a loss to NCSU would be a very bad indicator.

It is especially significant that they have new players and problems in their front 7. They have 3 good DE's... nowhere near Clowney good but good. LB's and DT's are mostly new and look avg in size and talent.

I am less confident now. I always thought that UT could outscore NCSU while the D got its legs. The D now has to show up and play. At least one of the next 3 WR's has to step up BIG. The run game better be as improved as we've been hearing.

The thing we seldom consider is the impact Neal and Young can have in the passing game. They could be a really big part of compensating for the loss of DR. Both have experience. Neal can motion out of the backfield and become a legitimate "WR".

Rivera has to stay healthy and CATCH THE BALL.

What exactly does OK mean? He was our best receiver--on a team that was going to lean heavily on its passing game. His absence will surely cost us some games.
